North Korea Claimed It Created OSX

It recently turned out that the latest version of the Apple OSX platform looks very similar to the Korean Red Star OS. The latter is local “home-grown” software installed on machines in public places like libraries and schools. Earlier the North Koreans claimed that they inspired Microsoft’s Windows and it did bear an uncanny resemblance to XP.

Although people in North Korea live in a country mostly shut off from the rest of the world, many of them still have access to various kinds of technology, including cell phones. However, Internet access is locked down, so people can only visit a few websites usually serving up state-sponsored news.

Red Star operating system is peppered with North Korean propaganda – for example, its calendar shows not 2014, but 103 – this is the number of years since the birth of former North Korean leader Kim Il-sung. While there were rumors that Apple considered developing a calendar using Steve Jobs’ birthday, thus far such suggestion is rejected as being too far ahead of its time.

The latest version of Red Star OS have been released last year, and while the outside world believes that North Korea must have copied Apple, some dissidents claim that Kim Il-sung couldn’t produce an operating system of his own and it must have been developed by the Chinese, but the rest of North Korea knows the truth – it was definitely Kim Il-sung who inspired Apple, and not just Apple – the Chinese as well, and before that – Microsoft. It’s a shame nobody just takes these claims seriously.

They probably obtained copies of the abovementioned operating systems, replicated them, and put their stamp on them, is it really a stretch to think they couldn't? Anyway, Kim Il-sung created the cosmos, so why couldn't they?

Since the United States and its allies have embargoes in place against North Korea, but not China, (or Russia, Cuba notwithstanding,) I'm pretty sure that N. Korea could obtain the operating systems from either Big 5 member.
