I'm curious...

Has anyone ever cried during an anime? And, if so, what were you're top five saddest moment that made you cry the most?

Now tell me yours. Unsurprisingly, Clannad was the series that led me to cry the most out of any series. It's the most beautiful touching anime I've ever watched. I look forward to seeing what everyone else posts.

There was an anime that made me tear up a bit. or maybe I cried... like a baby...

It was Air, everything about it is just so... sad.

LOL!!! I totally agree. Kanon 2006 was another that is really sad but majorally awesome!!! They are all from Kyoto Animation and directed by Tatsuya Ishihara. Greatness is achieved here!!!

On a side note, I love your sig!

I Know! After Air I kind of got addicted to those bitter-sweet-make-me-cry anime so I looked around and hopped on the Kyoto Animation band-wagon! I went Air -> Kanon -> Clannad, But Air was the one that stuck with me the most.

Their visual novel counterparts are actually all done by the same company too (Key), I've played Clannad and more recently Little Busters, but I've actually been dying to play Air and Kanon for the longest time now!

And thankyou! I really liked PLGF's madoka SOTW, so I gave a shot at something similar with my own style.

For the longest time Grave of Fireflies had be the saddest all around, until I saw the ending of AngelBeats, loved the series but the ending was so messed up. It seemed like it tried to redeem itself after the credits with the shoulder touch, but I was already traumatized by then, LOL.

basically what everyone else said.

i've become a huge fan of jun maeda's work because of all these sad anime moments (the guy created the music for air, kanon, clannad, angel beats and he's a founder of "key", the visual novel producer).

but definitely, clannad takes the cake - it definitely plays upon one's fatherly instincts more than any other anime i've watched.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

Here goes. I have two ones where I bawled my eyes out:

1: Was when Kenshin and Kaoru both died in each other's arms in Rurouni Kenshin: Remembrance.

2: When Hughes died in Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and his little daughter cries at the funeral and says, "Stop putting dirt on my daddy".
