I'm sure you've heard of this game before. It's going to be the first RPG released my Mistwalker, a game developer company by Hironobu Sakaguchi (creator of Final Fantasy). The character designs are done by Akira Toriyama, known for the designs of Dragon Quest VIII, and Dragonballz. The game sold well in Japan and Famitsu gave the game a 37/40. The game comes to America on June 1, 2007 on the Xbox 360.

Well, well, well. Mistwalker has been a bit of a wet blanket if you ask me. I got bored of Blue Dragon quite quickly as it was just... I don't know it just didn't have that extra something. Lost Odyssey on the other hand was a step in the right direction although the memory sequences were a bit of a let down as it was just reading with the odd sound. If they'd made them interactive, like being able to walk around without being noticed - Ghosts Of Christmas Past style - then that would have made things more interesting.

Their DS games haven't really been any better. I wish they'd let Blue Dragon die after the 360 release rather than making two more games for DS. I'd never even heard of ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat or Away: Shuffle Dungeon before checking their wikipedia page which probably tells you how successful they were.

By all accounts The Lost Story is a pretty good game though, shame it's on the Wii, which doesn't see much action aside from drunken Smash Bros. in my house now.

Well to be fair, most of the traditional-style RPG's released this generation have been on the Wii. Nearly all the RPG's on the PS3 seem to be experimenting with removal of actual gameplay or turning into more of an action game with small hints of RPG elements to them. Only problem is-- Nintendo of America is refusing to localize such games even though there is heavy demand from fans via Operation Rainfall. I'd really like to see XenoBlade make it to US shores for the Wii.

One of my favorite RPG's of this generation that I have actually had the pleasure of playing and I am currently still playing through it is Arc Rise Fantasia for the Wii. It starts off a little iffy, but it soon becomes an awesome traditional RPG.

You've had far more RPGs in America than we have in the UK. Additionally my above comment wasn't meant as a snipe at the Wii, it just doesn't get played in my house. I bought one on launch day and a year later had two games. Now I bought a 3DS and only have 1 game... Don't think I'll be investing in Nintendo on launch anymore.
