† An IP BreAKDoWN
Do you know what OS you're going to use yet? I don't think you need hardware RAID if you're planning on using FreeNAS. It supports ZFS which has it's own built in version of RAID. I think I'd pick your OS first, and then design your NAS around it based on what features the OS supports. to a video on FreeNAS. Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to just add it to the post.He doesn't have very much experience with linux, let alone BSD. He might have to switch a couple of OSs until he decides what he wants. Also he doesn't have enough SATA ports.
Marc05
N4200Pro: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822102048It comes with a buil-in UPS. Although the price is quite high, it's worth it. If you don't mind paying $200 more, you can get the newer version which has USB 3.0 and the like. The new version also has HDMI output which can make the device not only work as a NAS, but an HTPC as well.
