I used to play the sims all the time, about a year or so ago (my computer broke down). I miss playing but recently I got a new computer and for some reason the game runs slower now (takes forever to load the content whenever designing something). I don't know if its because of all the new patches or what. I should probably just stop using the cc and it would probably play just fine but I'd rather not,  it's just not the same. I just don't get how my old outdated vista computer could run it without taking forever to load the content and my new windows 8 computer is like a freaking snail about it, I've got double the ram and processing speed than I used to.

Win8 has been problematic for some people, so compatibility issues may play into it.

What game are you trying to get running? TS2 or TS3? It's possible that you really do have too much CC and need to clean up some of your unwanted content. It's also possible that if you use mods, an outdated mod may be dragging your game down.

To be certain it's really CC and not something else, you could remove all CC and start up the game to see how it loads comparatively. If it's faster, then you might want to consider doing a clean (painful, I know!). If it's still slow, it might be your computer doesn't want to play nice with the game. Or something else entirely, but it's hard to tell at this point.

The sims 3, I haven't even copied my old sims 2 folder to the new computer yet (it is also full of custom content). I really don't want to have to get rid of the custom content, it's the only reason I play the game, the game by itself is just so bland -.- I mainly just design sims and try to draw them, the cc is my muse.

The game itself doesn't load slow... like the loading screens (it actually loads a lot faster than when I used to play it on my old computer) but when I'm in design mode or create a sim the patterns take like 10 minutes to load if it loads at all I was too impatient to see if it would (its mainly just the patterns, which I don't have too many cc patterns). I haven't even gotten to build mode yet or live mode. I haven't played it since because I know that trying to figure it out is either going to give me a headache or it'll just take a really long time. I'm pretty impatient.

Maybe I didn't copy my files over right or something, when I started it up the first time that day my saved sims were all blacked out, because I was an idiot and forgot to move the resource over but I immediately realized my mistake and fixed it. After that I started to play again and realized this problem *sigh*

I'm not saying you need to get rid of your CC (I have quite a bit of it myself), but to remove it temporarily to see if it's related to your issues. It's one of the first things I do to troubleshoot my game, to get it as vanilla as possible and then go from there. Did you happen to port over your caches and all that stuff? Since it is a new computer with a different OS, it might need to rebuild those caches. Or something, I'm just kind of throwing stuff out there. Fixing this game seems to involve high levels of voodoo magic.

I hope you get it figured out, though! I know the game can be massively frustrating and I end up losing my saves at least once every few months because of general bugginess, haha. Even Pescado can't fix everything.

I played a little of the new expansion today. I immediately restarted my self Sim family because that's just how I roll. The iteration I had going already wasn't around for very long anyway, so it wasn't a big leap.

Literally me. Java and my roommate are none too good at actually studying (they'd rather play video games), and I'm too busy being a social activist to worry about my grades. 100% real life facts.
