It came in a new patch? I usually don't update right away when there are new patches since mods take a while to look at what changed. And I'm barred from playing my game until my processor gets fixed up, haha. But that's cool they gave us those features right away.

Patch notes says they implemented an attraction system--have you had a chance to mess with that yet?

I haven't had a chance to mess with that. I prolly will after I get back from my doctor's appointment. I didn't get to play much yesterday. I shall check it out later today. It is really cool that they gave those features already. I figured we would not get that patch til Seasons came out in a couple weeks.

{EDIT} I just read the patch updates and will definitely check it out.

Has anyone seen the announcement about the next two expansions? Apparently they're finally going to do University (University Life) which will come out in March and then they are also doing an Island Paradise which will release in June according to GameSpot. I really thought after Seasons that might be it but I am really glad to see more expansions. I've seen a lot of people wanting Sims 4, but I'm still enjoying Sims 3.

Island Getaway?  Is that actually going to be a full expansion, or a stuff pack with a new neighbourhood attached?  We already have World Adventures, so it seems redundant.  An expansion about time travel seems fairly out of the norm--like what would it be besides the chance to travel to other neighbourhoods that are supposed to be set in another time period?  I think it has a lot of potential to be pretty cool, but I'm not going to hold my breath, haha.

I am excited the next one up is a university expansion, though.  It was one of my favourite expansions for TS2.

I do wish they had put more effort into other Sims games like Medieval--it had so much potential.  They really dropped the ball on that one, I think.

Island Getaway and Time Travel are going to be full Expansions.  I watched the broadcast.  There is not much in the way of previews but they did announce them.

Island Paradise just isn't jumping out to me as much as it is for other people, I guess, haha.  Managing a resort might be cool, depending on how that pans out.  I didn't really do a whole lot with Open for Business with TS2, so it's not really a huge plus for me.  I'll buy it anyway for completion's sake, but I haven't heard anything yet that gets me super excited.

And stuff packs just aren't exciting for me, bluh.  Why does he act like it's an exciting announcement (other than it being his job)?  Wow, let me just drop twenty bucks for a handful of items.  I've bought maybe one stuff pack when they were making them for TS2, but never again.  It makes no sense that they can't just add those items to the expansions themselves.  I don't even use the Sim Store--micro-transactions aren't my style, haha.

As far as all the stuff and items go...>.>...I get those by other means.  :)

I'll be getting those expansions for completions sake as well.

Thanks for posting the link to that live broadcast. I hadn’t seen that yet so University Life and Island Paradise/Getaway were new to me. I am actually looking forward to the island one. It does sound kind of like World Adventures but I like the idea of houseboats, exploring islands, etc.  Also, the time travel one sounds interesting. I’m curious as to how that will work.

As for stuff packs, well I have to admit I’m one of those that buys them. It is rather annoying that they can’t just put them in with the expansions kind of like the Katy Perry stuff pack (hate admitting I bought that one), why not put it in with Showtime? Or the High-End loft with Late Night, etc? I do regret buying a few of the stuff packs but quite a few of them gave me stuff I always use so it’s hit and miss. Store stuff though the only things I have bought from there are the new worlds and only when they are on sale. Though I’m missing two or three because I missed them when they were on sale. Got Monte Vista when it was on sale around Christmas.

I snag stuff through other means as well, but usually I can do without.  I've scrolled through the Store stuff and it really is hit or miss--I don't need or want most of the stuff they have to offer, but some of it is pretty cool looking.  The neighbourhoods tend to be bugged or unattractive to me, so I don't feel like I'm losing out by not getting the DLC 'hoods.

I don't know that I'm necessarily ready to move to TS4 either, haha.  I was ready enough to move from TS2 to TS3 when it came out, which I guess is more indicative of how I feel about TS3 vice TS2.  And I played the first game when I was young, so it wasn't like I was super attached to it.

TS2 definitely is kinder to my laptop, haha.  I haven't touched TS3 since my desktop has been out of commission, so that's how I'm filling the gap.

It really is a lot simpler, and more focussed.  When I played it extensively, I would separate families that have multiple siblings for space because I like to pair off everyone.  I'd always run into the problem of one household being generations ahead of the other, so my "identical" twins would have one that's still a teen and another that's an elder with grandchildren.  Whoops.  I know Pes has a lot sync mod, but it wasn't something I used then--I do now, to keep things reasonable.  Nobody ever moved house otherwise, they'd just stay in the same place forever and ever.

TS3 gives me ADD.  I'll be like, "Oh, what's going with this family, let's move them to another house for the horse, it looks like this family just had babies, wow what are they doing over here, did she get a new job that's not her uniform, oh my god did he really just move out of his apartment to live in a shack with that guy what are you doing".

I do miss the quirkiness of the original game and TS2.  Though to be fair, when I played the first game again recently, I found a lot of it was just nostalgia glasses.

I prefer TS3 over TS2 because of the designing feature.  I love designing cloths and houses and TS3 provides way more options to accomplishing that than the TS2.  If they ever come out with the TS4...I probably won't get.  I got enough with TS3.  I'm looking forward to the Island Getaway EP for two reason...house boats, and exploring under water.  :)

...but I would get all the expansions just to get them because I have them all [except World Adventure, because I heard a lot of horror stories on the bugs in that one] and plan on getting the ones that come out after.  :)

I almost feel like the designing feature in TS3 gave me TOO MANY options. I'd spend all my time designing the perfect Sims and lots, then never actually play them because I'd get so wrapped up in it. With TS2, you just use what you have availible, and it's sooo much easier.

I think a lot of my preference comes down to how well it runs on my laptop, and TS2 is definitely better for somebody who doesn't have a great gaming set-up. My game crashed and my laptop overheated way more often when playing TS3 than when I play TS2.

Not saying TS3 is bad in any way (because it also consumed my life), but TS2 is more practical for how I play.

I prefer TS3 as well. I do miss some of the things in Sims 2 but on my old laptop Sims 3 ran so much faster. I haven't tried it on my new laptop mainly because I haven't installed it. I remember going back to play Sims 2 and missing the designing features in Sims 3 not to mention the story progression (I think that is what it is called). With TS2 to get everything I wanted I had to use tons of custom content, which is why I think TS2 had such long load times on my old laptop. I will say the one thing about TS2 I miss is being able to put more lots in the neighborhoods/worlds. Aside from demolishing buildings, I haven’t really figured out ways to add more lots. I tried building a neighborhood but ended up not having the patience and started searching for custom neighborhoods that had tons of lots on them and all of the expansion lots placed.

I probably will get TS4, which from what I have read was supposedly coming out in 2014 but have also heard that’s just a rumor. Back when TS3 first came out, I bought it just because a lot of the features seemed neat but when it first came out it seemed so plain compared to TS2. Once more expansion packs came out I eventually switched over because I found playing TS3 was easier, not to mention the designing/customizing.

I can say out of all the expansions for TS3, I don’t really like World Adventure. I haven’t noticed any bugs but that’s probably because I played that portion of the game back when I first installed it and just wasn’t very impressed. Now when my Sim comes up with wants to travel I just clear them out. The same thing with the new worlds I bought, I haven’t noticed any bugs but of course have read about them. I probably just haven’t played in the new worlds and with certain features enough to get the bugs.

It's been a while since I played TS3, but IIRC, you have to go to Edit Town and plop down the empty lot first and then build on it or attach the already built lot to it. There are some bizarrely sized lots out there, so I use Awesomemod to generate the properly sized empty lot I need. And yeah, I don't have the patience to build my own neighbourhoods either, haha. I don't play any of the pre-built neighbourhoods, even the ones included in the base game and expansions. I just start with empty neighbourhoods and populate them myself.

I like World Adventure well enough, but I don't really find it exciting, haha. My Sims almost never travel. They barely leave the lot if I have anything to say about it, derp.

I still somewhat play TS3. I just mostly play to build houses and have custom furniture. lol I used to be really into TS2. I even made CC for that game. I think it got too expensive buying all the expansions for TS3. Plus I think the game was already super customizable compared to the base version of TS2. So I didn't see the need to buy the expansion packs. TS3 is still a really great game though.

Overpriced they might be, I still buy expansions. The stuff packs are a whole 'nother story, though.

And I preordered University soon as I could too, haha. I'm excited for that one. My desktop should be up and running by Thursday barring any potential demon possessions, so it'll be nice to finally get to play the game again. I might do another little comic series--I was reading the old ones I made and got nostalgic.

The most CC I've ever made were a couple recolours and the like. I'd colour bin custom hairs for TS2, but thankfully there's no need to fill my hard drive with eighty recolours of the same hair in TS3.
