Yes I'm a simmer but not a PC one, havent actually played any of the PC ones, just the console ones but I love them, gives so many hours of fun. Castaway and sims 2 for ps3 were some of my favourite games, havent been able to find a sims 3 copy for my ps3 yet, I keep coming across the pet one...Sims medievil for PC looks okay so I may get that or 3 for my pc haha

I have all of the expansions (pre-ordered Paranormal and Seasons). I haven't been able to play as much as I have wanted to recently thanks to classes but I'll probably play it later on today since I do have a little free time. When I play I tend to play on the longest lifespan except for the younger ages. I really hate that they waited to release seasons since really that was my favorite expansion on Sims 2. I've been playing since Sims 1 and bought all the expansion packs for Sims 1, 2 and now for 3. I also enjoyed Castaway Stories. Still play it from time to time but then miss all the customization Sims 3 offers. I have the Sims Medieval as well but only play it from time to time because like Emotional Outlet said it gets repetitive.

What lifespan lengths do you guys play with?

I adjust mine based on whether I like the current generation I'm playing, haha. If I like them, I'll bump it up, otherwise I keep it at the normal one. Unless I'm playing with self-Sims, then I tend to keep it on the longer side for storytelling purposes.

I like playing with longer lifespans generally, but if I do play them longer...I just make them into vampires.

I never really got into vampires as much as I did in TS2. I think it's because I so rarely see them, haha.

Celebrities, on the other hand, are a huge pain for me. I have the decay rate bumped up so Sims don't stay celebs forever. It's fun for like five minutes for everyone to be celebrities and have everyone in the family be a celebrity just for being in the family, but I hate having the paparazzi hanging outside of my house. It's not as bad as the Obsessed Fan from Superstar (how I wanted to kill him), but it's still annoying.

Now that I think of it, I don't really fuss too much with the supernatural aspects we have now--the mummies, ghosts, Simbots, and imaginary friends... They're so easy to ignore, haha. The imaginary friends are cute though, and the little memories and buffs they get when they do things for the first time when they become real are adorbs.

I like the vampires better in the Sims 3 because I seem to find them better than I did in Sims 2...but I think its mainly because I use cheat functions. Of course, when you play for awhile in a saved game town...you start to see more and more vampires. The easiest place to find vampire is in Bridgeport(which is the town that came with the Late Night expansion). Mainly because there are at least 2 or 3 vampire homes. My favorite thing to do [thou I haven't in a while] is making ghost babies. It's where you have a human female and a ghost male make babies. It's about 50/50 getting a ghost baby...but I love having them. The freakiest ghost I had in my game was a vampire I had in the family that died from being in the sun to long. He was black and red...looked completely sinister. LOL

Bridgeport is so broken and ugly, haha. I played it for a bit before getting tired of the elevators busting and all the women with their oversized chests. I tend to stay away from having my Sims live in apartments because they seem to cause more trouble than they're worth. I do like the altered work times so Sims can stay up busting moves at the clubs or whatever, but it wasn't much worth it for me in the end, especially not with the number of celebrities crawling around.

And I rarely let Sims die for any reason except for old age, haha. I'm a benevolent god. I did go through a few households in a previous neighbourhood and add in random chances of death for various Sims, but that was fun for about two seconds.

LOL, completely opposite from me. I used cheats to just teleport and not have to worry about elevators. Love to use the cheats alot, for it gives me more room to do other things. :) I actually loved Bridgeport, the only reason I went to other towns were because they were new. I also love finding new and inventive ways of killing off sims. LOL. I am a mean god. LOL

Most everything I do with the game makes it more difficult, haha. Skill gain and job performance is throttled according to the Sim's age, and I'm always getting notifications of Sims going broke because they can't pay their taxes. The only thing I've got on that actually helps me is an automatic clean up thing--cleans up the stuff I would otherwise be able to drag to the trash myself.

I tend to play the other towns once or twice but always seem to head back to Bridgeport because of the vampires. Actually, the last time I played I had downloaded a world from the exchange, I think it was, that combined all the different parts of the expansion packs (high rise buildings/clubs, pet parks and training grounds, etc) into one world. I really enjoyed playing that world and that was about the only other world I would play other than Bridgeport. Though the city that came with Showtime does look interesting (haven't really taken the time to start a family/transfer my current family in there yet).

Aaah, the Exchange. What a mess that is, haha. I've seen a few superworlds out there, either in production or completed, but they never really appealed to me. I prefer smaller worlds. I did play a remarkably tiny island for a bit, but that was too small, lul. It was good for a bit, but everyone ended up inbred and I didn't have quite enough room for the things I wanted.

I'm just so tired of playing the premade worlds for a bit only to have fifty bajillion errors thrown at me after one Simweek of play that I just gave up trying to play any premade worlds aside from the vacation worlds.

I just hate how unmoderated it is. People post awful and/or stolen things there so often--I don't think I've downloaded a single thing from the Exchange, TS3 or TS2. Before TS3, I spent about two seconds considering whether TSR was interesting before all that paysite drama exploded and I felt gross for even having thought about going to TSR.

NRaas has a couple of good mods if you're already playing with Awesomemod. Their mods mesh well together, and Awesome's story progression will bow out if you're using NRaas's story progression. (I prefer NRaas's.) I'm just glad JM continued to make mods for TS3 after TS2--about 80% of my TS2 mods were from JM and the occasional few from TwoJeffs. I think CrammyBoy had mods besides the penis mod, but I can't remember, lul.

I really like the worlds on My Sim Realty, but I've been real out of touch with CC creators for TS3 after such a long hiatus from the game. I just know I've been with MATY since 2006, so that was my jumping point for new CC sites for TS3, haha.

Yeah I have one or two of Nraas' mods along with awesomemod (just recently added Nraas' mod). I don't remember whose mods I used in Sims 2 if they were JM's or Insimenator's. I couldn't stand playing Sims 2 and now Sims 3 without my mods. My Sim Realty is one of the sites I use as well. I downloaded a few of the worlds, houses and buildings from that site just to see what they were like. I used to use Insimenator and that was really my main site aside from Modthesims and MATY. But I think they closed down before Sims 3 came out, soon after, or something happened (can't remember exactly). By the way, if anyone wants to friend me on Sims 3 I am Cassminimarty88 on there. I don't post a whole lot out there and only log in through the game to work on the achievements for the site.

I used InSim for a bit on TS2, mostly for pollination purposes, haha. One of the NRaas mods lets me do that (Master Controller, maybs), so I haven't missed the functionality. I only remember a few things about the site--there was the one modder (possibly admin?) who made a rape mod or something, Beosbexboy or whatever who made ridiculous bodybuilder morphs for male Sims was under some fire, and of course there was always the fussing about teen Woo-Hoo or whatever. That was a community I didn't get much into, but they didn't bother me.

I guess according to PMBD, InSim was sold to some dude who doesn't even play the Sims but wanted to make it into a pay site, and then it blew up, largely due to JM? I don't really know. He's kind of a mastermind like that. There's a two hundred some page thread about it on

PMBD and a much briefer write up on LJ.

I mainly used Insim for Enayla skins if I remember correctly (got them from there and MTS). I didn't really get involved in the site either. Yeah after reading what you posted about the buyout I faintly remember it being sold and around that time I think is when I started going to MATY. I looked up Insim (insimenator.org now) last night after writing my post and it seems the insim forum is still going. But it still seems to be more for Sims 2 than 3 (though there is a section for 3). Thanks for the LJ link, didn't really want to read 200 pages of forum posts (lol).

*Just finished reading that lj post. I never knew so much went on. Goodness. Saw Garden of Shadow's link at the bottom. Completely forgot about Garden of Shadows, that was another site I used a lot in Sims 2. Loved the multicolored hairs people would post out there.

Oh, I do so miss Enayla's skins! She left the community after a bit, didn't she? Some fuss about people stealing or redistributing her work or something. Unless she just left MTS for InSim or something. It is somewhat annoying that a lot of great creators for TS2 never made the jump to TS3 or even vanished before TS3 came about, but it's just as well.

And yeah, I hadn't been to PMBD in a while, but I had forgotten how tiring it was to read Paden's posts. It was like most of the people there were in competition for who could be the most TL;DR, but Paden's was most tiring to read between all the almost drunken rambling and constant swearing, haha.

Yeah she did leave the community. I can't remember why/when she left, but I did follow her for a bit on her website furiae.com because I really enjoyed her artwork too (looks like it's down now though). I also thought there were health reasons for her leaving Insim (though I could be getting her confused with one of the other artists). I know what you mean. I remember when The Sims 3 first came out a lot of them said they were sticking with Sims 2 and made it very clear they would never create stuff for Sims 3 because they didn't like how the Sims in Sims 3 looked. It annoyed me, but it was their decision so I just started looking elsewhere. I tend to find most of my custom stuff from reading people's legacies/stories made with sims/competitions being held on the forums.
