† Mute point
I can't speak for everyone, but for me, snacking a lot is the only way to keep my calorie intake high enough to not lose weight, and I really can't afford to lose weight. It's taken me a long time to get up to a healthy weight, and I intend to stay there. KaoclazmMJR
For those of you who feel the urge to snack I suspect that is due to the frequency with which you eat your meals.I used to eat 3 squares a day and I would find myself getting hungry (for snack) in between meals, but after switching to eating 7 (~500-600) calorie meals per day I can honestly say that I am never hungry in between meals. This type of eating ('grazing' if you will) keeps your metabolism high all day and will help prevent binging and fat retention. Try it out if u don't believe me (although for most of you I would recommend 6 apprx 300-350 calorie meals with maybe dinner being slightly larger) unless u want to bulk up
VolvoKing
When I was younger I use to eat 6 or 7 times a day full coarse meals for the energy because I worked 14 to 16 hours a day. My protein in take was about 1200 grams per day for the muscle mass. Now I'm older it kind of shifted to my belly but I don't eat as much either. Back then it was cheaper to eat at a all you can eat place then to eat at home.
lemmingllama
I would love to do that, but its really just too much of a bother So I have 3 meals and 2 snacks, one snack being some cracker/cheese/jerky/whatever else I crave and the other being unbuttered popcorn
† Emotional Outlet
I snack because I don't like eating actual meals--they're too big for me. Unfortunately, when Java or I cook (especially when Java cooks, haha), we end up with enough food to feed an army and I don't really like leftovers. I just kind of want to eat a little bit of everything over the day--unfortunately, between my schedule and the hours I work and the nature of my work, I can't really afford the time to eat the way I want to. Back then it was cheaper to eat at a all you can eat place then to eat at home.No offense but you must have miscalculated. It is practically impossible to consume that much protein in a given day. If 1 Oz of beef ~ 7g of protein, you would have to consume 172 Oz of beef or approximately 22 8 Oz steaks. This is also the equivalent of about 35-50 scoops of whey protein powder depending on the protein density. So unless you were like 600 lbs and filthy rich than this is somewhat unlikely I would love to do that, but its really just too much of a bother So I have 3 meals and 2 snacks, one snack being some cracker/cheese/jerky/whatever else I crave and the other being unbuttered popcornThat's good The key is to never go to long without eating otherwise your metabolism falls and you will find yourself hungry (cravings) and tired more often.unfortunately, between my schedule and the hours I work and the nature of my work, I can't really afford the time to eat the way I want to.I definitely know the feel but as long as you are happy with yourself and making a good effort that is all that matters right? † Mute point
If I could eat enough in each sitting to cut down to 3 meals a day, I would without hesitation. But the size of my stomach and my nutritional needs won't allow that. So I eat 5 meals a day, with snacks any time I start feeling hungry. All together adding up to just over 3,000 calories per day, which is just barely enough to keep my weight where it is.When I was trying to gain weight, I started out trying to eat 4,000 a day... but I quickly realized that I couldn't eat that much... So I cut back to 3500, which still wasn't that easy, but I managed it. The hardest thing through all of it was not resorting to pure junk food for all snacks. If you need to eat 3K calories a day to maintain your bodyweight, either you are exercising like a demon, very heavy (which I doubt) or you have an extremely fast metabolism. If you want to hit 4K without throwing up from eating too much just eat about 3-3.5K legit and then take either a storebought weightgainer or make your own to supp the extra 500-1000 calories, that'll make it much easier.Anybody remember Toonami? I think Cartoon Network should bring that back.I'm Canadian but when I was vacationing in the US as a kid I would watch Toonami every single day! Watching Toonami (DBZ, Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Gundam, Outlaw Star, etc.) is probably wat put me onto anime in the first place. In fact the first time I ever saw Goku go SSJ vs Frieza was on Toonami in the US (I waited for that FOREVER ). Sadly Toonami is no more
† Mute point
I have a fast metabolism, and I exercise daily, 2 miles of running every morning with 50-75 (depending on the day) extra pounds of weight strapped onto my body in various locations. And on days when I don't teach my self defense class, I go to my garage and beat up the heavy bag for around 15 minutes, with the weights still on. That's just the stuff I do every single day. Some days I do free weights, others are "rest" days where I don't do any additional stuff, and I run with lower weight.I'm certainly not heavy by any stretch of the imagination, unless whoever was judging failed to account for muscle weight. 135 pounds fully clothed. It took a lot to get up to that.. especially considering my starting weight when I finally got a competent doctor who understood that I have a bit more muscle mass, and a lot more muscle density than most girls was under 100 pounds.I was constantly getting sick then... but once I started eating properly for the weight I needed to be, which was between 132 and 150.. Well, a lot changed.

Unless you are trying to lose a lot of weight (without caring how much of said weight is muscle mass) then working out in the morning on an empty stomache is not a good idea.Does running with the added weight ever cause your knees to hurt during the day? But no joint pain at all. I'm sure it would if I'd jumped right into the workout at that weight, but I did the smart thing and increased gradually so that everything was getting stronger.
