Dust 514 is a free MMOFPS exclusive to PS3 and PS Vita which has just

been announced by Sony and CCP (The creators of EVE Online).

I'm not going to describe the game a lot because you can just follow this link to the article I read about it: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/122/1221463p1.html. Basically it's a shooter in which the player is a mercenary who takes missions that are posted by the players of EVE Online. The outcome of every mission the player does directly affect the universe of EVE Online.

So I guess I have yet another reason to buy a PS3 and/or a PS Vita.

The release date is really closer than I expected. I thought it would take very long to come out, since it connects two games together. Maybe i just heard about it and they were working on it for a long time, or they are very good at keeping secrets

there is already 3 threads on this game posted quite a while ago....but no matter.

I'm really looking forward to it, considering I'm a huge fan of EVE and the premise behind the game is awesome. I mean, there is already thousands of EVE players and their corps setting up merc groups in anticipation. It should be awesome, although I don't like the idea of fighting it out on the ground while a Titan is buzzing about in the space overhead....scary.

hmmm I wondered why this one had disappeared from the radar. I have a 360:( Still, I can see this game having a massive potential for FAIL, because when push comes to shove, the developer is always going to sway in favour of its pc eve players. Still, time will tell.

Drum is right of course. The potential for fail in this project is massive to say the least. Any number of things could cause damage, such as lag issues, disconnections from servers etc etc. But there is also a huge potential for greatness. Anyone who has played EVE knows that the community is made up of die hards, mavericks and general crazy people. The history of the game is plagued with betrayals, wars and strange goony PSAs that were mildly disturbing. Adding another facet to the already complicated gameplay just adds to the overall enjoyment. I love the idea of being able to take out orbital defences above a planet then jump on my ps3 to continue the carnage....the scale will hopefully be as grand as EVEs.

As to ccp, of course they will drum. But this move actually benefits the EVE players anyways. It gives them a way to really conquer, not making it all about the ships. It does also mean that the moment this game comes out the relatively peaceful galaxy EVE has at the moment will go out the window and planets will burn. I can't wait to join in the carnage! ^-^

if the game can live up to its potential it definetly has a bright future but it seems fairly easy to screw it up
