I think this topic is some where already...........Ohh well. It seems to me it all depends upon the producers and directors and so forth. Depending upon there faithfulness to the material. If not then its more likely the live action adaptation will disappoint. Like dbz, that one stunk. This counts for anything any were. I guess we will have to wait and see for more info. If you have any like articles and such you should post them.

I agree with you 100%. I thought that the live action of DBZ was crap, and anybody who says that they thought it was awesome is lying to themselves.

One of the only good live action adaptations of anime are the 2 Golgo 13 movies that came out in the 70s. There was Golgo 13 (1973) and Golgo 13: Kowloon Assignment (1976). Both of these films are extremely rare and I was actually able to get my hands on the Japanese DVDs. Now, I gave the both films to my friend who knows Japanese and has privately subtitled other films for me and my other friends. So after he subtitled both movies I watched them and surprisingly they were really solid movies. Now keep in mind these two movies came out before the 1983 animated film that most people know.

I think it some how varies like shadowtheman on the producers ability to portray the series in there own style but sticking to the series. But my other reason would be it might depend on the length of the show, take for instance DBZ there is no way you could sum up even one ark of that series in just one movie unless your that good, then if you look at shorter series like HOTD (I'm just using it since it's only a few episodes so far) it might be easier to make this into a movie since it's much shorter and they don't have to worry about summing up tons of episodes in 2 hours or less.

But bottom line I think anime should just never turn into live action movies there is a reason there were animation in the first place.

I just think people have seen really bad Live Action adaptations. A lot of the JDrama's in japan are actually manga adaptations, and two of those, Hammer Session! and Mei-Chan No shitsuji in particular are two of my favorite shows of all time. my favorites. Then you've got the High School Debut movie, which is one of my favorite movies. They are generally pretty good if they are made in Japan, because if they are made in Japan they'll follow what they are adapting at least.

I really can't wait for the upcoming Rurouni Kenshin live action film, especially since Takeru Sato, the guy who'll be playing Kenshin is such an awesome actor. He was so boss in Kamen Rider Den-O, So I can't wait.

I love watching Animated Characters and Real people, I think they are both great. Then again, unlike a lot of people I don't go in expecting the movie to be the exact same as the anime in everyway. I think Live Action adaptations are great and I hope to see some more good one's soon. (Then again, I am a Tokusatsu fan, so I do watch a lot of Live-Action Japanese stuff anyway.)

Also, I'm getting sick of people using Dragon Ball Evolution as an example of why adaptations suck. It's not even made in the same country the source material is and clearly completely disregarded that in making it; It really doesn't even deserve to be used that way. It should just be forgotten about.
