Grandia: Parallel Trippers

This Gameboy Colour game was finally fan-translated about a month and a half ago, for those who were not aware. I haven't given it a whirl yet otherwise I'd have much better screenshots, but you can find the Patch (although not the rom) at the Romhacking.net website Here. For more information on the game itself check out Koby's Summary of the Series thread.

Quoted from the forum topic at Romhacking.net:

It's been a long time coming, but Mr Fwibbles has returned as part of a brand new group called "Adventurous Translations" to finally bring us the 100% complete version of his English translation patch for the Game Boy Color RPG, Grandia: Parallel Trippers! There are NO known errors. It wasn't a simple project, either - more information and screenshots in the zip.

Awesome to hear that Mr. Fwibbles of VLOG and his crew finally finished the fan-translated English Patch for the game. It was fairly easy to find the Japanese ROM and figure out how to patch it. I'll have to play it sometime, though I'll likely want to get to the first Grandia before hand.

Likewise; I won't be touching this until I've finished the original Grandia anyway, but it is great news as not too long ago it looked like a fan-translation was never going to happen. My expectations aren't too high since it is just a GBC game, but I'm betting it will really compliment the original Grandia well for a fan of the series.

Hey, compared to most of the junk we've been getting which seems to be less and less classified as RPG and more and more of a hybrid with a lack of actual gameplay *cough*Final Fantasy XIII*cough* I'm sure it won't take much for me to actually enjoy a nice change in pace with an old Gameboy Color RPG to remind me of the classic RPG style. I'm just glad that we have a chance to play an entry in a franchise we otherwise wouldn't have been able to, that is unless we played the Japanese version and ignored the fact we wouldn't understand anything. I only wished Digital Museum could get the same treatment.

Pretty much. Most of the RPGs I play are old-school anyway. There's still dozens for the PSX I've yet to touch let alone the PS2 and beyond. Hell, the same goes for the SNES, especially when you consider the huge amount of fan-translated RPGs which came out over the last decade.

A slight part of my reluctance to continue with my play-through of the first Grandia was looking around for information on any translation projects for Parallel Trippers which seemed pretty doubtful. All in the past now though. I might give it a quick test in the next day or so and take a few good screenshots to post here.

Edit: Screenshots added to original post.
