MediaFire Issue

My Issue: Whenever I try to access http://www.mediafire.com/myfiles.php to upload and manage my files, I get a page saying that I need to update Firefox to the latest version.

My Question: Can I work around this without having to update Firefox to a newer version?

Note: I am currently using Mozilla Firefox, version 3.6.24, and I refuse to upgrade to a newer version or use another web browser.

Chances are it's asking because the browser you are using doesn't have the features or capabilities of some new feature whether it be front-end or back-end of the MediaFire site. I see no reason to refuse upgrading.

Mediafire has gone through a drastic site update that is the reason you have to update trust me it is worth it.

Ok, after some quick searching on the issue i've come up with what are probably your only 3 options:

1: Upgrade firefox. They release updates for a reason. It's your fault if something doesn't work.

2: Switch to another browser such as chrome, at least for working with mediafire.

3: Remain an inflexible and incomplete human being, wet your diapers and cry for mommy.

well with google chrome, i didnt have to update anything.. and mediafire is working fine.. but i havent uploaded anything yet tho :S

Like how they changed the viewing of your add-ons etc for example.

Change can be scary, I understand that, but not updating your browser because of how it looks is the very least of the things that are wrong with that. See, they release these things called security updates, which close security holes that exist and can be exploited by hackers, terrorists and other scary people that want your information. No amount of anti-virus software can protect you from shit like that.

Having worked with computers for a good number of years now I can safely say that anyone that doesn't update their shit because of some pointless, buttfuck ass complaint, is thoroughly a retarded shit eater that deserves any problems they end up with.

If the new firefox puts your vagina hairs in a twist, that's cool, just for the love of the heathen gods use something that's been updated or you could end up regretting it.

I'd still suggest that anyone using Chrome is a back-ass retarded hillbilly.

That shit tracks everything you do or input through it and by their terms you agree with they can store, back-up, and sell any information they gather from you or use it how they see fit. This includes watching everything you do, storing credit card numbers, social security numbers, and any other important shit like passwords. Who in their right mind would honestly agree to that? You know what? That's what keyloggers and shit that you don't want and try to prevent do.. so why the fuck would you knowingly agree to it?

Sure up front they claim this is to properly dish out adverts that adhere to the shit you view, but we all know behind the scenes Google is an information hog which reports back to the Government. After all if you look up the origins of Google, it was the Government that had a hand in it's creation.

It's also proven they use the tracking of Chrome to determine sites users visit and then block bad sites (such as in their eyes, Kametsu) from their search engines.

I vote that virus protections should log Chrome as bad. If I could block access to Kametsu from Chrome users and leave a message saying the browser is blocked I so would do it. :/

Sorry for going off but I get sick of how many people knowingly use something that tracks their every move and when told about it they couldn't care less about Chrome tracking them, yet other shit they have problems with. They are contradicting hypocrites. I'd like to see them get a keylogger trojan that tracks everything they input and tell their protection to simply allow it and never do anything about it. Essentially they are already doing that with Chrome, but they just don't seem to comprehend it at all.

Normally I'd agree with you, but most of my add-ons that I use on a daily basis, are not compatible with any of the newer Firefox versions past 3.6.24.

Not to mention it's only the MyFiles page on MediaFire that is giving me trouble, I can still download files from MediaFire and access/use other websites just fine using Firefox 3.6.24.

I had no problems with any of my addon's, though that's probably because 99% of addons are completely useless trash that aren't needed anyhow. I use Adblock+, Addblock+ Pop up, Chatzilla, Flagfox, RSS Icon, and MP4 Downloader all of which were compatible. If your addon's aren't compatible it just goes to show you they were useless and therefore not upgraded like the ones that have a use.

Obviously that page has been updated and your browser doesn't have the capability to display something about it.

Obviously. It's open source, unlike Chrome, so you can edit it, but there would be no such edit already made so unless you know how to code a browser from scratch you'd be completely shit out of luck on creating such an edit.

Besides like TCL pointed out. The biggest part about updates is security. Using old shit will leave you open for attack. Not to mention the actual fixes they have done. The version you have been using has a lot of bugs.

I wouldn't have minded upgrading Firefox to a newer version, if Mozilla had not changed the way Firefox looks.

My main problems with the newer firefox are the following.

1.) The Status Bar at the bottom. I can't make it look like it was in Firefox 3.6.24.

2.) When I right click on a link, Open Link in New Tab is above Open Link in New Window, instead of Open Link in New Window being above Open Link in New Tab.

3.) Selecting Tools -> Addons makes the add-ons window show up as a new tab, instead as a new window.

4.) Oh and yeah, some of my add-ons are incompatible.

That's all I can think of right now.

All of those reasons are simply you hating change. That's all it is.

Anyhow this topic has went on long enough and the answer was long since given. Either quit being a baby and upgrade or just stop access MediaFire's page that doesn't work for you and any other website which requires new things.
