Extreme Forum Lag with Chrome

So, I haven't been able to post or check for new posts in a while because I usually access the internet from chrome, and this forum has been extremely laggy for about the past week on that browser. I should clarify that when I say chrome I mean Chromium however most people don't know what that is so we'll call that chrome. I'm using Chromium v17.0.924.0 build 107897 when I get the lag. However, with my other two browsers, Canary and Firefox Nightly, the loading times are normal. Canary is currently on v17.0.919.0. Canary's built on the same platform as Chromium so I'm not sure why the site works fine there but not Chromium. My Firefox is v10.0a1.

I didn't really pay attention to it b/c I thought it was just passing lag for some reason, however when it persisted, and when I checked my other browsers and it was fine, I started getting curious. Any idea why the forum would be this way for only 1 browser when it's extremely close cousin (Canary is only a couple minor revisions behind) is fine?

This isn't a very major problem since I just found out I can access through Canary or Firefox, but it's still fairly annoying since I use Chromium as my browser of choice.

LOL, well bad place to be asking about Chrome stuff. Mostly cos Koby just will say Chrome is shit, because it steals data and sells it. I'm pretty sure you can turn it off. I use Firefox so I got no idea, but the only reason I can think of is the browser itself unless you got other plugins, tried turning them all off?

Why do you think I use Chromium and not Chrome ;)? Chromium is the open source base that Google uses in their stable releases of Chrome. Chromium is an active, open source project kinda like Firefox, except that Google takes their builds, and runs them through a series of intense tests before dubbing them canary/beta/stable and sending them out. In the process Google adds stuff on to the browser, but the basis is still Chromium. I have Canary and FF because the Chromium build can sometimes be a bit unstable, but for the most part I like to use Chromium over any other browser.

I just tried disabling all the extensions I have on chrome (not many), but that didn't help any. Thanks anyway.

Yeah but I think Koby hates anything with Chrome. Will check out Chromium then and see how it goes for me.

Not sure if I can help you or not, but what exactly do you mean by lag:

  1. Does your browser become slow because of high load on CPU?
  2. Pages load up very slowly?

#2. My computer works fine, I'm able to do other things in other programs while I try to access the forums. Chrome itself doesn't freeze and crash, only the page takes a long time to resolve and show up. In fact, if I close the tab it takes a couple seconds longer to close than normal, but every other tab works just fine (that might be part of chrome's modular tabs thing though). Then, once I wait long enough for the page to show up, it's so laggy that I can't even scroll up and down the page properly let alone get any of the links to work.

I'm on 15.0.874.106-1 (yes Chromium, on Arch) and everything seems to be fine/normal (loading this site included). I'm on 16.0.912.15 (Chrome Dev) on my laptop and this site seems to load fine there too. But, if you're using bleeding edge stuff you should be able to trouble shoot the issues with it. Might seem like a harsh thing to say, but that's the point of using bleeding edge software. Being able to tackle any problems one might have.

I explained the difference on another thread.

Different development branches I believe.

Ya, I came here b/c I was at a loss on this one since it only happens on 1 site and it works everywhere else :P. It's also not pulling any errors or really doing anything which would show up in the logs as abnormal (checked them anyway). It's just not happy loading kametsu >.>.
