nemarious
Where'd this ^ come from :/ If you're a mod please change it, thanks.I imagine this is where to post this as they are anime and manga apps sorry if it is in the wrong place though. So, I was out one day when I remembered I needed to update my MAL account. Trying to login via their standard website on my phone was messing up as the login lightbox was appearing behind the addbar at the top so I did a search on the Android market and found some cool apps.MALO is the app for you if you've been in a situation like that. It is free, although a slightly expensive 'pro' version is available to remove adverts. It allows you to update/add/remove items from you anime and manga lists with a nice and intuitive user interface. There are other free apps available that do similar things but one didn't work on my phone and the other was painfully slow. I'm surprised MAL haven't released and official one yet to be honest.MANGO is a brilliant free app that lets you read manga on your Android device. I've never really been interested in manga but the app works like a charm with handy little tutorials to show you how everything works. You can view manga from multiple sources so if one doesn't have the stuff you're looking for, you can check another. You can also favourite a series and it will track your reading progress through it so you don't have to keep finding the page you were on when you went to make a cup of tea or something. Also, you can multi-download any chapter you want and just wait for them to be delivered to your 'My Library' section of the app. This allows you to view them even when you have no 3G/4G connection which is awesome. There is a paid version which removes some add, none of which can be seen when reading a manga. Both are great apps and will make your life a little bit easier. Of course, MANGO, will look different depending on your screen size but I have a Desire HD so the 4.3" on that is fine, beside you have pinch-zoom functionality in-app.
samurai_lord
'Mango' is a definitely a must have if you don't have bookstore close by or can't afford to buy manga.I use a different app though of updating MAL when I'm not at my computer it called 'MAL for Android' not very interactive though. It main function seem to be updating your list.

They did have others occasionally a while back such as Fruits Basket and Black Butler. Overall though I'm only using it to read stuff I've bought on DVD so in a way I am contributing to the whole industry. As for the apps, the only choices (on Android marker) are MALO, which I found functioned perfectly acceptably and was much quicker than MAL for Android, this with testing both in WiFi. There is also something called Myanimelist Lite which has a couple small features that the other two don't allowing seeing the highest ranked animes and your reading/watching statistics. All three have free versions so I guess it's down to taste. The main point of the thread, really, was to make people aware that these sort of apps exist. I don't know about iPod - hang on I'll check on iTunes... Okay, there's something called Pocket-MAL on iTunes which sounds like it works the same way allowing you to check and update the status' of the various animes/mangas on your lists. It's completely free but requires iOS 4.0 or later to work.I also read recently that MANGO is coming to Blackberry so if anyone has a phone by them you'll also be able to enjoy it. No word on an iTunes port although with news of it coming to Blackberry there was a little note about world domination being imminent so that suggests it is in development. Thanks for the comment.
