PSCX2 Emulator Question

Recommended Posts

So I'm playing around with the PSXC2 emulator, and, after failing to get PS3 controller working with it, I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice on controllers to use or how to hook up my PS3 controller. Does the PSXC2 take any controller USB controller or are there certain things I should be looking out for?

BTW, I'm assuming emulator Q's are okay, but if I missed a forum rule or something and they're not, I apologize in advance.

Did you install the drivers for the PS3 controller or just plug it in without doing anything? As in have you used the controller for other games and such before and know it's installed correctly and just not working on the emulator itself or what?

I followed the instructions on the PSCX2 forum, but I'm not entirely sure if it worked. The instructions weren't very clear. I also use 64bit Windows 7, and it seemed to suggest that made the process harder. Either way, the drivers are user made and not an official release, so their validity is somewhat questionable.

Granted, I'm not really a computer expert either, so I could just be out of my depth (never really messed with game pads before).

Well here is what I use and it works great.

One industrious modder out there has created a simple program so you can use your PS3′s SIXAXIS controller on a PC like a game pad. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

1. Download this
http://7902de93.linkbucks.com/url/http://dl.qj.net/SIXAXIS-driver-for-PC-Tools-and-Utilities-PlayStation-3/pg/12/fid/11679/catid/518
and install the filter driver (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe).

2. Unpack ps3sixaxis_en.exe

3. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC.

4. Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe once.

5. Push the PS button on the SIXAXIS once if it doesn’t see it straight away.

Unfortunately, the motion sensing features aren’t possible on the PC (not yet as least). But still, this is pretty easy way to net yourself a free usable game pad.

Every time you plug the controller in to your computer you'll have to repeat steps 3 through 5.

Alright, thanks. I'll see if it works.

EDIT: I tried it, but the PSCX2 no longer recognizes that the controller is plugged in, and while it appears in devices and printers it has a little warning sign on it (yellow with exclamation). On further examination it seems to be rejecting the libusb drivers because they're not digitally signed. Not sure if there's a workaround for that, but, again, I'm out of my depth.

Well it works fine on my 64-bit Windows 7 laptop, Windows XP SP3 desktop, and my Windows Vista Home Premium desktop so I don't know what to say. :/

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what was the problem. Might have missed something. Who knows.

The good news is that I ended up finding drivers that work in my umpteenth google search (

if anyone wants them). It claims that you don't have to run an app every time and it's responsive in PSCX2 (though I'm still trying to figure out how to work some of the inputs). I apologize for taking up your time and then using a different solution, I hate when people do that. I really do appreciate it though.
