handbrake not hardburning subs.

It worked fine for converting and hardsubbing videos for my 360 .But when I tried a Dual Audio video (samurai 7) and picked japanese audio and 'burned in' subtitles for the ssa sub file it had registered the resulting video was devoid of any subbing whatsoever, just japanese audio.

anyone know how to remedy this?

I could try converting the subs to SRT and adding them on HB to see if a different sub format works....but thats a lost of hastle:(

Is Handbrake not seeing the subs at all or is just not burning them in? Subtitles

The handbrake wiki says it supports ssa subs as input so I'm not really sure why it isn't working. If handbrake sees them you could try toggling the burn in option off and on a couple times. I've had the opposite problem in the past where it would burn them in even when I told handbrake not to. Only other thing I can really think of would be to open up the subs in an editor to see if there is anything odd that could be pissing off the handbrake gui.

The quickest way around this would probably be to just convert it to srt and be done with. If you're going to burn them in you really won't need the added effects ssa offers.

A buggy gui is one of the reasons I moved to MeGUI. The other is that the deinterlacers/other filters in avisynth are better then the ones in handbrake if handbrake even offers them.
