It's a smart move on the development company's behalf. Gamestops whole "sell us your old games" concept is a big punch in the gut to the game developers. You see, when you sell your game to Gamestop, or other similar establishments, they buy it from you for a alot less than they sell it for.

Example: You sell them a copy of Marvel VS Capcom 3 for $20, and then they turn around and sell it for $54. They've just made a profit of $34. Now that doesn't seem like a lot, but let's say they sold 50 copies. That would be a profit of $1700.

The worst part about it is that the developers don't see one cent of those profits. This is one of the main reasons they release Downloadable content, or charge monthly fees to play online. They know that they'll be losing a lot of money because many consumers are going to by used games, or trade old ones for new ones, and that's a huge hit to their profits. So, they take steps in order to make up for the money they're losing.

Stop complaining about it because you're basically stealing from them only it's not illegal. It takes years of hard work and thousands of dollars just to make one game. If the developers can't make money, then they can't make more games, and if they can't make more games then what are we going to play? It's a give and take relationship. They provide us with entertainment, and we provide them with a source of income. There's no such thing as free, but the younger generation thinks that they're entitled to everything for absolutely nothing, and that's not how the world works. They're not making games just for your entertainment. They're doing it to also provide for their families. If you can't afford a game then save up for it like everyone else, and stop complaining.
