Mr_Owl
My accer officially committed suicide a while back, so my parents are helping me buy a new laptop for graduation. I'm considering a macbook pro. Thoughts? Opinions?
† L4ugh
Personally I'm not a fan of macs. I like the OS but I think the hardware is overpriced and they're not really supported by a lot of the software companies. I think they're geared more towards being a "Professionals" computer. Most of the major software that seems to be supported by the Mac OS is top of the line software for graphics, video, web design, etc. I think steam has been ported to the mac now, so the software issue should be getting better. However, I don't know about the price issue because it's been awhile since I've bothered comparing the price of a mac vs the price of a pc with similar hardware. My recommendation would be to think about all the things you will want to do with the new computer, and then make sure that the Mac OS is able to do it. Then I would find a mac you like and compare the price to a similar powered pc to see if the price is reasonable for you. You can also run windows on macs now, but you will have to buy the copy of windows first. If the price of the macs haven't dropped then you are basically ripping yourself off, because you could of had a windows pc that was either cheaper or more powerful for the same amount of money. s0teric
Seconded. If you can find someone to build you a system it would be so much more cost effective. Albeit, they help you pick out good components.
mrheihachi
I am typing this on a thunderbolt MacBook Pro. It is an amazing machine... truly a work of art. With that being said it was hella expensive and there are a lot of games and such out there that just don't have a mac version. What an amazing machine though
