ZonedOut
I'm looking for a portable videoplayer with built-in screen (4"-5" 800*480 is fine) and good battery time. It should play anime mkv flawlessly, which means it should play up to 1080p, multiple audiotracks, and support all important subtitle formats like ass, srt, etcCurrently I'm using a china player. These things are cheap and do reasonably well if you pick a good one. Mine is a so9800 chip based Ainol V9000HDA. It has a good screen, plays 1080p flawlessly (except if the mkv has header compression set to ON, but that is quickly rectified with mkvtools) but does not play ass subs very well and if the mkv has multiple audio tracks, they go out of sync pretty badly.Any players you can recommend? Or does the future lie with Android tablets? Do the Android video players handle anime mkv well?
Koby
I didn't even know a player existed that could play mkv to be honest.
ZonedOut
Well, these little china players do a pretty decent job of it. It's just that you cannot be sure these will display the subs unless you try. Not fun when you quickly drop a bunch of files one there for a trip and on the way notice you don't have subs But for native english stuff they're great. Try the MP4nation forums, they are dependant on a very nice shop but talk about all kinds of brands. I don't know if I'm allowed to post links, but if you google mp4nation you'll get there in no time.edit: I forgot! They're cheap! Mine was less than $100 shipped from Hong Kong to Europe! Kurremkarmerruk
just look up 'mkv player' on amazon. There are a lot of options out there depending on screen size (those little tiny screens might make it hard to see subs or a good amount of detail, not sure though), on space, on formats supported.Avoid Archos. They support mostly just commercial formats.
