RikuoAmero
Yet again another techie questionI've got an Epson Styles SXS525WD. It's a network all-in-one. Back in my old place, I had it connected by ethernet cable to the router in the living room, and I was able to share it with my desktop in my bedroom and room-mates laptop in the kitchen no problem. However, I'm in my new apartment and space is at a premium. I'm using a DSL connection (boooh! Was using a fibre connection before, but the apartment is only wired for DSL) and the phone line is in the kitchen, which doesn't exactly have a lot of space. What I plan to do is connect the printer by USB to my computer, but then its how to share it with the rest of the house that's troubling me. The roomie's boyfriend just brought over his PS3, connected wirelessly to the router, but for some reason, I can't connect to it in PS3 Media Server. So, it looks like the router I got from the ISP is a bit...shit...for sharing devices. It works fine for internet, but I'm not too sharp on sharing devices through a network. † L4ugh
If the printer isn't wifi capable you could just get a wifi adapter and hook it up to the network that way. Then you can put it where ever you want.Want kind of router is it? Is it one that's a modem/router in one? I use to have a belkin like that and the firewall filters built into it were shit. I couldn't get anything to work right except for basic web surfing. I just ended up chucking the whole thing and bought a zoom modem and a linksys router and never looked back. Not sure what brands of routers you have over there but if you can pick up a linksys or netgear I would go with that. Then just turn off the wireless part of the modem/router (if that's what you have) and use it as a modem only.

It would mean the roommate would have to come into my room to actually get the printouts, and I'm not gonna allow that! Should have thought about that first...Can I get this thread deleted?
