seaweeds
I am interested in this topic as my dad has a HD tv recorder in his room that can record shows and save to its on board 500 GB hardrive and also transfer the contents to usb or external hardrive you can also change the file name extension through the recorder and it greatly reduces the file size. I just want to know 1) what recorder you guys use 2) How to change format/encode 3) How to get rid of the ads and just leave the show itself from start to finishAny help or advice is welcomed Sorry this encoding stuff is new to me and I am getting stuck into as you can see through my other threads. seirachan
I don't encode and most people use a DVD ripper program on their computer.to change formats just a video converter program (there's hundreds)I don't think you can get rid of tv adds, You are recording that whole video adds included. But you can cut out the commercials either with a video editor after conversion or just turn the recording off once they come on.I only know from recording with a VCR so things probably work differently these days. But it does seem impossible to cut out the adds that appear on the show.
† L4ugh
1) Replay TV (It's old but still works and downloads straight to your PC). I have also heard you can hook up an external HD to one of the new Direct TV units and record to it but I haven't experimented with this yet.2) Handbrake or MediaCoder 3) Video editing software like Sony Vegas, there are some free ones out there but finding a good one that's easy to use will be hard.
