Dervell
In a combined effort between the Olympic Council of Asia and Alisports of China, eSports will be making an appearance in the official program of the 2018 and 2022 Asian Games. Due to their incredible popularity and growth, competitive Electronic Sports have been added to September's OCA Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games as a demonstration sport and are slated to make appearances at the 18th and 19th Asian Games. The 2018 games held in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia will showcase eSports as a demonstration sport, which has been a stepping stone to becoming an Olympic event for sports such as baseball, tennis, and Taekwondo. At the 2022 Asian Games at Hangzhou, however, the OCA says eSports will feature as an official medal event, "reflecting the rapid development and popularity of this new form of sports participation among the youth." It's worth pointing out that this does not make eSports an full Olympic event as yet, but it is an important stepping stone towards the possibility of inclusion. http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/04/19/the-olympic-council-of-asia-brings-esports-demonstration-to-asian-games?abthid=58f72f0f778fb00821000008
