vDFfZ5b.jpgShueisha announced at the Jump Festa event on Saturday that the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime franchise based on Kazuki Takahashi's manga is getting a sixth anime series that will feature a new protagonist. The anime will premiere in spring 2017 on TV Tokyo. The event revealed the character design for the new protagonist, named Yūsaku Fujiki.

The theme for the new work is "Let's take one step forward and try it!" Yūsaku hates standing out, and at his school he doesn't. However, Yūsaku starts meeting others through duels, and starts moving forward.

The fifth and ongoing anime in the franchise, Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, premiered in Japan in April 2014. The series premiered on TV in Canada in August 2015, and premiered in the United States on the Nicktoons channel on February 21. Crunchyroll began streaming the series worldwide outside of Asia in November.

The latest movie in the anime franchise, Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions, opened in Japan on April 23. The film will premiere in the United States and Canada on January 27, 2017, and will screen in more than 500 theaters in the two countries.
