Anyone remember the PS2 game Primal.

Primal was and excellent and underrated game. It tells the story of Jennifer Tate, a 21-year-old orphan. One night when visiting her also orphan boyfriend at his bands gig, a strange and deadly figure shows up and attacks them both slicing Jen up and abducting her boyfriend.

 

Jen wakes in hospital and is confronted by a supernatural figure that explains that Jen and her boyfriend are more than they seem, but only one of them is needed hence why she was left for dead. She is given a choice to follow the supernatural figure into a new supernatural world and try save her boyfriend and hopefully everyone else.

 

What comes next is game with 4 large ish worlds, to complete each world gives Jen a new beast/demon/fish/vampire form to morph into, allowing her new powers and abilities.

 

The game also has a unique sidekick companion called Scree that the player can switch to in order to solve, traverse areas, solve puzzles, pull levers and find objects Gen could not.

 

The other big draw is the voice acting which I think was ahead of its time. Expertly done, with Hudsen Lick (Gen) and Andreas Katsulas (Scree).

 

The game also wows with high-quality production values and a great soundtrack. The lead character Jen is also a great female lead, strong, smart, easy on the eyes, without the need for a big chest and a better personality than other female leads.

 

In sort I world love for this game to get an HD Remake/makeover as I think it really deserves a second shot. So have you guys played it, would you want an HD upgrade?

The games great, lots to do and stuff to find. It also has nice lore and an interesting worlds and the slow friendship between Scree and Jen is well done. You probably have heard of Primal, but it was greatly looked over as I think God of War was put out around the same time and lets face it GOW kicks ass, but this action adventure game from SCEE is IMO, stands beside at the very least the first GOW for presentation, story and production values. Combat may not be as smooth but its a very small issue. The rest of the game is fun.

 

If you can find it and enjoy getting your retro on its well worth getting the old PS2 out to play it. I still have my collectors version that came with the sound track and a shiny foil cover. Best of all I got it for £20 on the day it came out as a special promo, good times.

Its a shame your PS2 dosent work, Its a fun. Do you live in the US, their PSN store has it to buy. In failing that a quick youtube search will get you plenty of vids, you might even be able to find the making of, that's well worth a look.

 

Its funny all the games I want HD classics of will never get done, Primal and Shadow Hearts 2 being top of my list.

It was kind of like Nier.

 

A solid game, but marred by not having a good budget.
