I know I don't post here often (only a few times). But I just got my plex server up and running and am feeling awesome about it.

OS: Server 2012 R2
CPU: i5-3570K @ 4ghz
Ram: 8gb ddr3 1600 (4X2)
OS HDD Samsung SSD 120gb
Storage 4x 3tb RAID 5 (7200rpm 64gb)
Network: LAG 1gb connected to upstream of 1gb/s and downstream of 1gb/s

What do you guys think of it! Anyone else use plex?

There's not many differences between XMBC and Plex since Plex is based on XMBC. I think the biggest difference between them would be Plex's remote streaming component. It lets you stream to Android, iOS and Windows Mobile through their native apps locally and across the web with not a lot of setup. You also get a front-end at plex.tv so you can access it from any browser.

If I remember correctly XMBC have add-ons that can do some of this stuff, but I haven't used XMBC in a while.

XBMC has iOS, Android, and Raspberry Pi versions that support UPnP. There are also many apps that allow you to control it from a remote device.

On that case, Plex would only have an advantage when viewing remotely. Sadly, it doesn't have as many plugins as XMBC.
