Alright, I'll give a number options for you to look at at least.

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

You play the role of a little girl in charge of an item shop that the adventurers and townsfolk shop at. There is also dungeon delving for loot where you hire a mercenary and then play as that mercenary in the dungeon you've traveled to. It requires planning ahead financially and with your stock, time management, and basic understanding of hack-n-slash mechanics.

Sanctum 2

Its a tower defense where your character is on the ground armed with weapons running around killing things. The towers are there to assist in your killing and proper usage makes your job easier. But some stuff you just won't have the towers able to handle and you'll need to run-n-gun down. Oh and bosses can make a hash out of your maze if you aren't careful.

Torchlight 2

Its a more modern take on Diablo II. And a number of its designers actually are from the team that was Blizzard North.

XCOM Enemy Unknown

Its a turn based grid strategy game. It can be particularly brutal on higher difficulties. Helluva lot of fun the first couple complete games you do. Just expect to restart your game a time or two as you get a better handle on game mechanics.

Section 8: Prejudice

Its an under appreciated FPS. Has a number of fun things to like a survival game type. Community is rather small though.

Dungeons of Dredmor

Its a Rogue-like. For those that like to fail again and again until they get it right.
