lolrawr
Nvidia announced a new gaming handled system called Project Shield at CES. The device will run stock Android Jelly Bean (which means Google Play store games), has a Tegra 4 processor, GeForce GTX 650 graphics card or higher, and a 720p Retinal (lol) screen. It can also play 4K content on all of those 4K TV's we own too.Now what's REALLY interested about the device to me is the ability for it to stream Steam games to the TV. I don't know how much work the initial PC has to do when it comes to streaming, but if the Shield does most of it then this is quite cool. I also dreamed about getting a gaming rig to hook up to my TV one of these days, and if this thing can provide that without me having to get an expensive PC then yay.THAT SAID. I still think this product might become vaporware. It seems to be appealing to a very niche market. It's main purpose is to stream Android games since it runs Android. There isn't that many killer games for mobile phones to justify this if it costs too much. The product will be available Q2 2013.Source Edited January 7, 2013 by lolrawr
xanas
I think it sounds fantastic, but the most important thing to any gaming system is to have games, so if they don't get developers to take hold of that platform then they are screwed and it will be vaporware as you say. I hope NVidia has focused on ease of development.
