JohnFlower
i'm strictly an intel man, so i will tell you to get the i5, regardless if the amd performs better. that said, you will probably save a lot of money, and not see much difference in performance if you go amd. Dae314
I'm not aware about whether audio editing/recording requires a lot of processing power, but you would probably be OK with the AMD processor. You should worry more about a sound card ^^;
Daman4Life
Well it all depends on your budget, If you have significant large amount of money i suggest shooting for a 3930k or 3960x. for Editing/Rendering etcif your on a Medium budget and need a badass machine then go for a i7 3770k or i7 2600k/2700k if you dont want to experiment with overclocking or dont know how to Go for a 2600 or 3770 non K edition. And if you are one of those people that think More Cores=power then go ahead and buy the Decent AMD FX series which is Actually inferior to the Phenoms II which is totally ridiculous. if you are on a tight budget of around 300-500bucks teh best thing you can grab is a AMD x4 955 CPU is amazing for its price, regular price is around 90-100bucks but they usually get low as 75.
