RikuoAmero
Hey,I was wondering if there's a way to selectively control what exactly stays powered on. I sometimes leave my computer on during the night to torrent, but the problem is my system's power requirements. Is there a way to selectively turn off specific hard drives/SSDs? I have a boot SSD and four separate physical hard drives. What about turning off GPUs? Basically, if I can leave one hard drive (and more than likely the SSD will be required to be on anyway), along with CPU, CPU cooler (preferably with a way to force the CPU to minimum) along with at least two USB ports (one for a keyboard or mouse to wake up, and one for my wireless dongle, that would be great. Dae314
I'm not sure that you can do that in a single software location. I believe that you can set up profiles for your graphics card and CPU and set those up so when you switch to them at night it'll put your GPU and CPU into low power consumption states. I don't know of a way to turn off your hard drive through software. I know that some hard drives (usually green drives) automatically turn themselves off when not in use. I'm pretty sure that your DVD drives and USB ports aren't sucking very much power when nothing's in them.
dark4yoyo
If you're only torrenting, even with nothing specifically turned off, your PC will not use much power, it only uses alot of power while gaming (especially with your SLI).Your power consumption should be < 100W or around 100W when you're not doing anything. It wouldn't help much if you turned off some things, except maybe the graphic cards. And I don't think the gtx 560ti can turn itself off, it's a new feature in the AMD 7000 series and nvidia don't have it even of the 600 series. Allienne
To change your Power Settings go into Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Power Options from there you can change your Power Settngs to Balanced Mode or Power Saver. You can customize each of these modes to your liking allowing certain things to be turned off and others to stay on.
