I had a feeling the Vita was a bit too gimmicky, apparently the Vita sold well the first week but then sold only 25% of what they sold the first week the following week. Anyone else see this coming? Do you think this will reflect on American sales once the Vita comes out in America in February?

i don't wanna get my hopes up but i think the system will do well in the U.S, i think the system will sell it self for what it is capable of. in the beginning of any system i think a lot of people are scepticle about what kind of performance the system will actually give and then their is the matter of first titles out for the system. I think that alone can make or break a system and sony seems to have a better grasp this time around, they are really getting serious and trying to bring out the next gen in hand helds, now i think it's microsofts turn to come out with something im just suprised they have not tried the hand held style yet.

If you're wondering why Vita is failing so hard, it's because of how much they're trying to screw the consumer.

When you purchase Vita, it comes with everything but a Sony memory stick. Ironically you need a memory stick to even play a game. That's right, the game wont even boot without a memory stick inserted. Instead Vita just becomes a really expensive calculator. Need I remind you that Vita games are cartidges, not disks. Sony is purposely avoiding saving game data to these cartridges in order to profit from their memory sticks, which sell from $30~ for 4GB to $150~ for 32GB. That space will be eaten up fast between save data, install data, and the Sony Store, so you'll end up dishing out even more money for more memory sticks.

Also, if you wanted to borrow your friends Vita games to play on your own Vita, they make extra stuff unobtainable to you such as Trophies.

I honestly think this is where Sony falls flat in the game industry. Ever since they started trying to combat the hackers/homebrew users they focus far more on protecting their investments rather than pleasing their consumers. Rather they're acting like they've been betrayed or something. Which ofcourse between both Sony and Microsoft there's no real difference. Nintendo is about the only one still trying to please the gamers with new and innovative ideas rather than a larger Term of Service agreement to sign off on.

Save your money. Everyone will develop on other systems; Good hardware or not.

This is why Monster Hunter, one of Japan's most popular and profitable game series has moved to Nintendo Systems after their long run on the PSP/PS2.
