Saidon
As a fan of the Katana, I have always wanted to take on a sword style that was relevant to it. Coincidentally the University I will be attending in 2 months time has a style called Kendo. So I have been reading up on it a bit and it looks great from what I have seenJust wanted to know if anybody here does Kendo or know anything about it (apart from the obvious lol) I have done Taekwondo for 7 years and started Boxing recently but always wanted to do a sword style. Any of you feel the same? hahaha.
lemmingllama
If you want to do the basics of kendo, take a big wooden stick then do vertical chops until your arm hurts. Its alot more than that, but kendo is the thing with the bamboo swords that starts off with a lot of muscle building. Personally for a fellow martial artist, I would reccomend trying bo staff rather than swords since its like an extention of your arms and you are allowed to use normal martial arts as well as the staff when you fight.Just a little fun thing I found on kendoConceptKendo is a way to discipline the human character through the application of the principles of the katana.PurposeTo mold the mind and body.To cultivate a vigorous spirit,And through correct and rigid training,To strive for improvement in the art of Kendo. To hold in esteem human courtesy and honor. To associate with others with sincerity. And to forever pursue the cultivation of oneself. Thus will one be able:To love one's country and society; To contribute to the development of culture; And to promote peace and prosperity among all peoples. Saidon
Thanks for the info, yeah I am fine with either I guess, but I think its mainly Shinai (Bamboo swords) in Kendo.
