What do you think? Ive just found this out not too long ago, I'm thinking do it with a tree and a human...

Perhaps this would be better suited in the Mako Reactor? I know there are several people who find the idea of gene splicing and any sort of tampering to be rather... unsavoury. Whether it's food, animals, plants, or human beings, it stirs up some strong feelings in people.

That said, I find that although I'm somewhat... reluctant, it is interesting and likely something we won't be able to avoid. Have you read about how the work they did in Japan to extract proteins from sewage mud (basically human waste) to create artificial meat? I believe I read recently that it passed a taste test, but don't hold me to it. I know they said they were having issues with aethetics because it doesn't look like meat due to the lack of blood in the artificial tissue.

I think there is also similar work being done in America. There was an article about attempts to create a hamburger (to include the patty, bread, and lettuce) entirely in a laboratory setting.

I fear for genetically modified crops, though. If they're all the same, what's to happen to them if something kills them? I thought the whole point of genetic diversity was so even if something killed off some of them, others may have an immunity to whatever is killing them and stay alive. I will admit I don't know much about it, so if anyone is willing to enlighten me on that issue, that'd be neat.

As far as combining creatures... I'm not sure I see the point. They grew a human ear on a rat a while ago, which seems to be more a proof of concept that we can regenerate our own body parts and not so much a step in the direction of chimeras and people with wings. But what do I know, haha. I think a functional tail would be awesome.

I agree with you on the not being able to avoid doing something like, its pretty cool. if we are able to modify food we sould be able to make it "Perfect". just saying, and it would be cool for the human-plant thing too, take in the attributes and such and a human might be ablt to live longer not to mention we could feed ourselve through photosynthesis, cool huh?
