What is a good newish Anime to watch?

Hey there!

I am just wondering what would be a good newish or perhaps not so new anime to watch? I've been away from anime and this site for a pretty long time well over a year, and with plenty of free time now I am rather bored and in need of something good to entertain myself with!!

So what would the ton of members on this site suggest that I check out?

I can't really recommend something, "new" but I can recommend plenty of good series you should look up and see if they appear interesting. Obviously, ignore the series I mention that you may have already seen.

Azumanga Daioh, Baccano!, Big O, Clannad, Cowboy Bebop, Cromartie High School, Darker than Black, Ghost in the Shell, Golden Boy, Interstella5555, Kaiji, Kara no Kyoukai, Legend of Galactic Heroes, Rune Soldier Louie, Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica, Mushishi, Planetes, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Slayers, Spice and Wolf, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Tentai Senshi Sunred, Top wo Nerae!, and Trigun are all good shows. Sadly, I can't say many of them are very new.

Madoka★Magica and season 2 of Kaiji are about the only recent shows to have come out in the last year.

Well it depends on what exactly you like but the new anime that have come out recently would be A channel, Aria the Scarlet Ammo, Astarotte's Toy, Battle Girls: Time Paradox, C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control, Deadman Wonderland, Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko, Softenni, We Without Wings: Under the Innocent Sky and We Still Don't Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day The World Only God Knows Season 1 & 2.

The rest are ongoing shows; Ao No Exorcist/Blue Exorcist, Beelzebub, Fairytail, Hana-Saku Iroha, Nichijou, Sket Dance, Toriko and Steins;Gate.

No.6 and Usagi Drop are pretty recent. You could try those. If you liked the other Yu-Gi-Oh series you could try the newest one: Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal.

Try out Nichijou and Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (long name, roughly translates to "we still don't know the name of that flower we saw that day") both are new and alot of fun

You have a lot of good so far, but I think Tiger and Bunny deserves some love. It is action packed and has enjoyable characters and a great story.

I don't know what to watch now! I love all the Gundams, Full Metal Panic, Maburaho, Code Geass, Elfen lied, Nadesico, Love Hina, Outlaw Star. heh I basically like most things i think! XD The last anime I watched and finished was Gundam 00 2nd season..

Redakai conquer the Kairu and is pretty good.

If you liked Ben 10 you should check it out.

You have a lot of good so far, but I think Tiger and Bunny deserves some love. It is action packed and has enjoyable characters and a great story.

This. The show is just awesome, and even better, Viz Media has subs for the show on their Hulu channel, so they'll be there until the end of time. What really drew me into the show were the characters and the seemingly overall theme to the show, that being that older things get replaced by newer ones. If you watch the show, you'll understand what I mean. What gets really interesting is how they show the characters are shown and their attitudes. They aren't really cliche at all and have interesting personalities.
