Nero D. Ace
Okay, granted that Bleach has lots of plot holes, and that when one hole is filled, another is dug up ... but there's one thing I simply cannot get my head around and which just seems plain ridiculous to me.When Aizen first meets Ichigo, he said he didn't know him. When he next meets Ichigo, he said that he knew him all along and that he was lying about it because well, he knows everything (apparently). He says that he's immortal.Okay, back up a second here.He admits that he's a liar. And then he says he's immortal. Did anyone even think to assume that he might be lying about that?I mean, it's the same case as with Hidan in Naruto. I mean, sure the guy can SAY he's immortal and all but would you at least care to test it out? He may be immortal but I'd say he'd be a lot less functional if, say -You cut him up into a million bazillion pieces, take those pieces and feed em to dogs and cats and tigers and other types of carnivores all over the world until he eventually assimilated/digested/ was absorbed by various chemicals.I mean, this just sounds like a safer thing to do than putting him away in prison and waiting for someone to come barging in, killing all the guards, stealing the key that's hanging right outside the door, unlocking the gate and escaping scott free with the prisoner. Babs
It seems to be some kind of unspoken law between all the bad guys. It's the 'Let's-pretend-we-are-immortal-because-we-know-that-we-aren't-and-we're-too-scared-to-admit-it' law.
chris92
To be honest, it just seems like he is leaving Aizen for a later story arc.

junkbonds
Soul reapers, such as Aizen, are essentially immortal. It takes thousands of years to just develop their bankai. A soul reaper's lifespan may span at least 20-30,000 years as far as it is implied. Maybe the only way to die is to be killed. When he first met Ichigo, he probably did now know him at all. However when he fused with the Hōgyoku, he became much more intelligent to the point he could foresee events way into the future. Of course, it wasn't perfect.Aizen was pretty self-centered, egotistical. He can delude himself into thinking he knew everything - but of course he did not, leading to his downfall.Okay, granted that Bleach has lots of plot holes, and that when one hole is filled, another is dug up ... but there's one thing I simply cannot get my head around and which just seems plain ridiculous to me.When Aizen first meets Ichigo, he said he didn't know him. When he next meets Ichigo, he said that he knew him all along and that he was lying about it because well, he knows everything (apparently). He says that he's immortal.Okay, back up a second here.He admits that he's a liar.
