Okay, so this is my first guide and i've been advised to keep it plain, simple and nooby so here goes ...

INSTALLING CFW (Custom FirmWare) 6.20 TN-D ON YOUR PSP

Note : This guide is STRICTLY for running XLink Kai and to be able to play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite over the internet. I dunno if it'll play ISO games or not since I haven't tried it yet.

What you'll need :-

  • PSP (Duh - 1000, 2000 or 3000, doesn't matter. If it's a PSP-GO, this guide most likely won't work.)
  • OFW (Official Firmware) of 6.20 [You can check your current firmware by going to System Settings -> System Information -> System Software]
  • This file - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KSO4SAIV

The steps :-

  • Power on your PSP.
  • Connect it via USB cable to your PC and enter USB mode.
  • Copy the "PSP" folder from the downloaded file to the root of your memory stick. (Is it asks if you want to merge, select "Yes")
  • Exit USB Mode.
  • On your PSP, go to Game -> Memory Stick and run the file called "TN Homebrew Enabler"
  • The PSP logo will flash on the screen.
  • You're done.

FAQ's :-

Q) What is my PSP is BELOW OFW 6.20?

A) No worries there. You can just download this file - http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=1855 and place the "EBOOT.PBP" file inside it to the PSP->GAME->UPDATE folder of your memory stick. Then, just run it from the PSP like you would with the TN Homebrew Enabler.

Q) What if my PSP is OVER OFW 6.20?

  • If you have a PSP 1000 or 2000 - This guide won't work and you'll have to wait till I write one for applying a CFW of 6.39, providing Sony doesn't release ANOTHER one directly afterwards.

  • If you have a PSP 3000 - you're pretty much screwed since the 6.39 CFW is only available for the 1000 and 2000 models. The only thing I can think of is to downgrade your OFW from 6.xx to 6.20 and I'll try getting a guide up for that as well but let this be a lesson to all of you ... stop updating your OFW's all the time.

Q) Will i be able to play ISO games I download from the net with this?

A) I don't know about that since I haven't tried it but like I said, this guide is specifically for using XLink Kai.

Q) The CFW disappears when I reset my PSP!?

A) Yes, this one is only a temp version of 6.20 CFW and will be erased as soon as you turn off your PSP-3000. There's a way to make it permanent but most people would rather not risk that so they use a temp version. Just remember to keep on clicking the TN Homebrew Enabler everytime you reset your PSP.

On a side note, it will be completely unaffected if you just put the PSP to sleep mode. To turn the PSP completely off, you have to hold the Power switch down for 5 seconds whereas holding it for 1 second will simply put it to Sleep.

Btw Iki Psp 3000s have 6.36 Pro B6 and I also believe that the latest 6.39 ME also has support for 3000s as well and Tn-D doesn't come with native Iso support, but can load isos through the use of Prometheus Iso loader.

i thought there was only 6.20, 6.35, and 6.39 Pro B6.
