00 Gundam Technology

00 Gundam supposedly is set in 2307, that's the 24th century. What do you think about the level of technology they have considering it is the 24th century? By comparison, Mass Effect, the popular scifi video game, takes place in the 22nd century, and Star Trek takes place in the 24th century. The original Gundam 0079 takes place around the mid-22nd century.

Now granted, orbital tethers would take some time to build. But only solar power? They are still using fossil fuels to a certain degree, and still have desktop computers with physical monitors. It seems that much of the technology in the show, and even the political divisions, are woefully old for the 24th century.

My guess is that it was suppose to be set in the late 21st or early 22nd century, but someone thought it wasn't believable enough, so they moved it to 2307 instead.

Well, maybe I'm just optimistic about our prospects, but it seems our technology jumps almost every decade these days.
