Recording Desktop via VLC player

Hey everyone,

 

I am trying to record a stream that comes in using VLC. Basically there are some streams I want to watch on twitch, they aren't uploaded, and I can't always watch live.

 

I remember being able to get VLC to do this, but I have forgotten the settings and need a pointer. Basically I want audio and video record of my desktop, VLC is the preferred method, but if there is some other freeware that does it easily I will take that as well.

have you tried downloadhelper?  its a firefox addon, it can download most streams from most websites

let me give it a try. thanks for the tip.

 

 

edit: downloadhelper and its extra cs helper aren't working for what I need. I am able to download stuff from youtube, but the screen capture is telling me invalid capture file.
