dark4yoyo
Hmmmm......I've decided that maybe an i7 would be more effective for me compared to a xeon, since my work is more leaned towards multimedia than a server. The only reason why I was stuck on it was coz I figured it'd handle 24/7 usage more easily but now after having second thoughts, it doesn't seem that big a deal. Most ppl I know don't have xeon, yet they're content with keeping their systems open all the time. The main issue has often been related to overheating and I think I can manage that by just having some extra fans with a better filtered casing.Anyway so this is the new updated setup:Intel core i7 3770K - http://ark.intel.com/products/65523Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Mobo - http://www.gigabyte....spx?pid=4167#ovCorsair 8-16GB RAM DDR3HDD 1TB Seagate 7200rpmCooler master 900W UCP (PSU) - http://www.coolermas...product_id=5197Nvidia GTX 570 (superclocked) - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130595Asus DVD burner x24 - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16827135204Asus Casing - http://www.asus.com/.../TAM2/#overviewTotal $1200......I already know what you're thinking, how the heck did I jump from my earlier budget to THIS? =PI ended up with some extra helping on my investment. Its really a good thing judging by the current difference in what I was formerly getting, except now I feel like the weight of paying it all back from my job just doubled on me... x_x (help)Nothing completely final yet as I won't be ordering it until the end of this weekend so do tell whether you find this to be the better package for me or have something else in mind.Umm 900W for a single GTX 570 is totally overkill, that would be enought for TWO of them.a 650W PSU would be more than enough. Also, why take a 200$ mobo ? especially if you're not overclockingtaking everything on newegg :Processor - Intel i7 3770k 320$Motherboard - MSI z77A-GD65 170$ (10$ mail-in rebate) (if you intend to overclock, otherwise just take a 100$ mobo)RAM - G.SKILL Sniper Gaming Series 2x8GB DDR3 1866Mhz 60$HDD - 1 TB (Seagate 7200 rpm) 50$PSU - Corsair TX650 V2 90$ (10$ mail-in rebate)Graphic card - Gigabyte GTX 570 250$ (20$ mail-in rebate)DVD drive - LG 24x DVD burner 17$Casing - Cooler Master Elite 370 75$CPU Heatsink - Cooler Master hyper 212 EVO 32$ (if you intend to overclock)Total : 1064$If you don't intend to overclock : 964$Also you might wanna add a few fans in your case. (accidentally linked the one with wifi instead)http://www.gigabyte....spx?pid=4139#ovhttp://www.newegg.co...N82E16813128545So compared to your msi, its only a $10 difference and seems like the thing has more stuff on it but then again I'm not exactly sure as I remember the asrock one and its quite similar as well. Overclocking is always a possibility, like I said earlier its my preference to not get stuff I'll be changing later on and especially if those stuff are something which are not very easy to replace. Funny enough I was first recommended an Asus sabertooth mobo but since that is definitely above $200, I went for something close to it. Oh and the fact that it didn't have any other video output besides an HDMI and DVI. lolThe PSU......uhhh....... so its 650W now?.........At first I was going for just 700 until a guy showed me a bargain on 900. May probably downgrade for more ram instead. Though I agree with the notion that when it comes to PSUs its better to overspec than getting something which one may "think" is sufficient enough and then cry bout it in failure later.Whats the difference between gaming rams and normal ones? And lemme guess, you find the casing I mentioned to be too show bloated right? .-. Edited November 15, 2012 by Bardon

Oh and the fact that it didn't have any other video output besides an HDMI and DVI. lolThe mobo is really a preference, I simply put the MSI because I had looked into it and it was good (and quite cheaper than the one you linked). And what about video output of the mobo ? The video card has the video outputs you'll use anyway. The PSU......uhhh....... so its 650W now?.........At first I was going for just 700 until a guy showed me a bargain on 900. And lemme guess, you find the casing I mentioned to be too show bloated right? .-.There's no difference, it's the frequency that matters, and these ones were also the cheapest 16GB kit I could find, also it's a 2x8GB kit so you can add another 16GB if you want to.Actually I didn't change the casing because I couldn't find it on newegg, my guess is it's an old model, asus don't even make cases anymore.Anyhow, the case is your preference really, though the cooler master elite 370 has a good airflow.
