Japanese at University

Mid year I am heading off to university to do a Bach of Science in Information Technology (Applications and Internetworking Major)

This allows me 8 Classes of electives,

If I do two lots of 4 Classes it will be two minors, One lot of 8 will be a major.

The uni I am heading to has a world class japanese class.

Should I do 8 units and have it as a second major? It will include well over 600 kanji and make me fluent.

Or should I do 4 unit minor in Japanese with will make me semi fluent.

If i did that I was thinking of making my second minor in Marine Biology just because I'm interest/terrified of things under the sea.

Thoughts??
