Rumour: Resident Evil 3 remake already in the works

Recommended Posts

qIvVBTC.jpgCapcom is already working on a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, according to ResetEra member and leaker of all things Resi, DuskGolem.

Speaking in a thread discussing the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake, DuskGolem revealed that a remake of the 1999 survival horror title 'is in full development right now,' but wouldn't comment any further.

'Resident Evil 3 Remake is already in development. I hope Code Veronica happens as I do feel it’s the RE game most in need of a remake, but RE3 is the last mainline RE game that needed a version for easier porting in the future (RE0, RE1, RE2 (after REmake 2 comes out), Code Veronica, RE4, RE5, RE6, RE7, Revelations & Revelations 2 all have versions on MT Framework and RE Engine that can be ported to future consoles, only RE3 is missing after REmake 2),' he said.

Resident Evil 3 takes place 24 hours before and after Resi 2, and sees former S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine attempting to escape a zombie-infested Raccoon City while being hunted by one of Umbrella's bio-weapons, the Nemesis.

To be fair, DuskGolem has accurately leaked a bunch of stuff in the past, including details on the Not a Hero DLC for Resident Evil 7. Furthermore, Capcom has said that it would consider the possibility of more remakes after Resi 2 comes out.

Capcom will launch its remake of Resident Evil 2 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on January 25, 2019.

I hope Code Veronica is next.
XD

As short as RE3 is, I wouldn't mind if they released the two games in a combo bundle.

Well the original RE3 wasn't even supposed to be a game. Not the way that it ended up being anyway. So if they do remake it, they can do what they have for all the remakes and put in all the concepts that they would have wanted to but were restricted because of technology and space at the time. There's a video out there, CarcinogenSDA playing with an old RE Dev, and he talks all about RE3

HD ports for everything, it's easier then making new games

There's a difference between an HD Remaster port and fully remaking the game from the ground up like they did with RE2 and what the thread is talking about with RE3.

Resident Evil is one of my favorite game series so I would certainly welcome this remake.  I personally prefer the earlier games in the series because of their focus on Umbrella as the primary Antagonist.  Everything from RE4 onward feels like a completely different series to me.

Considering the Success of RE2 remake, it seems like a no-brainer even without the leaks.

Is RE3 well received? I've only ever heard people praise 4, the endearing camp of RE1, and how 2 is better than 1.

Most people that played it liked it, it's just a lot less people seemed to have played it. RE3 wasn't originally meant to be RE3, it was meant to be a side-game and somehow it got pushed to being a main numbered game. The first half takes played a few days before the events of RE2 while the second half takes place after it. Like Mr. X (Tyrant) in RE2Remake, Nemesis chases you around for the majority of the game while being unkillable until a certain part.
