IKGGN3a.jpgAn animated series adaptation of Capcom’s Devil May Cry franchise is in the works from Castlevania animated series executive producer Adi Shankar, the creator confirmed to IGN.

The Devil May Cry animated series will join the Castlevania animated series in what Shankar called a “bootleg multiverse.” Shankar did not further elaborate on what this means, but teased, “Let the speculation begin. You can read into that all you want.”

Shankar assured that he “acquired these (Devil May Cry) rights myself so the jabronis in Hollywood don’t fuck this one up, too,” which should allow him more creative freedom.

Shankar attributes the Devil May Cry series announcement to the success Castlevania, which he says, "really over-performed. It did crazy well. We immediately got greenlit for Season 3.” Thanking the fans who made this all possible, Shankar said, “I wouldn’t have a job if it wasn’t for the fans."

Following IGN's news break, Shankar shared his excitement about the new project on social media with this image:

Currently, there is no information on which network/streaming service Devil May Cry will air on.  Further information was not announced.
