Actually, it depends. I set it so that if it's an MKV or an AVI, the file will play in MPC (because the color correction is slightly off in VLC), but if it's an MP4, it will play in VLC.

MPC-HC 1.7.10  the newer version gave me problems with Remoti.co Lite

I switched to mpv full-time when MPC-HC development halted. It's really fast, even on lowspec systems and not as hard to configure as it seems.
