Synopsis: Asta and Yuno were abandoned together at the same church and have been inseparable since. As children, they promised that they would compete against each other to see who would become the next Emperor Magus. However, as they grew up, some differences between them became plain. Yuno was a genius with magic, with amazing power and control, while Asta could not use magic at all, and tried to make up for his lack by training physically. When they received their Grimoires at age 15, Yuno got a spectacular book with a four-leaf clover (most people receive a three-leaf-clover), while Asta received nothing at all. However, when Yuno was threatened, the truth about Asta's power was revealed, he received a five-leaf clover Grimoire, a "black clover"! Now the two friends are heading out in the world, both seeking the same goal!

  • Koby changed the title to Black Clover

This show is generic as hell, full of classic shounen cliches, and completely unoriginal all around from the premise to the characters to the setting. It's got nothing going for it and everything against it. People have been laying the smack-down on the show because of the Japanese voice of Asta being completely nerve-grating terrible. However the dub seems to correct this and is actually tolerable. And despite all of this, the show is actually watchable. It's average at best, but watchable. My only real complaint at this point is the pacing is terribly slow. I'm 4 episodes in, and honestly they should've been able to cover the contents of these episodes in about 2 episodes. So if you go into this expecting your average unoriginal shounen and don't mind the slow pacing, you'll probably enjoy this. At any rate, I currently rate it a 5/10 for average. It's basically a mix of Naruto meet Fairy Tail.
