Do you need to be quoting more than just the quoted person directly?

If you quote, quote, quote, quote... pages will mostly be filled with the same words.

I can only think of a few uses for having the whole chat quoted every time.

In old fashion it'd only go 3-5 before cutting you off and dropping the older ones.

Eh, I guess it doesn't have to go down that far. At least the alternative is we can just highlight everything and use the "Quote this" if the need arises.

I take it this means BB Code and or HTML will no longer be allowed or possible in posts on here??

Any normal bb code should still publish correctly when used.

Just all our custom bb codes will no longer work.

I'll eventually re-create some of them like [box] at some point for use in this editor.

Cool thing to note is double clicking on some elements or rightclick+shift pulls up extra settings/commands. You can make images resize to whatever or make them float to the left or right of your text, etc.

As far as html, that was always disabled for regular users due to security. It's too easy to inject exploit scripts if html is fully allowed by every user.

I think trusted members in the Uploaders group should get to use HTML to spruce up their/our topic posts ;)

And just to confirm, does the [ topic ] tag still work?

In my tests, they still worked. I could bold, italics, link, etc...

I haven't tried them yet, I will try them in the last line of this post and if it works, then they work fine.

Id try logging into an account that's not an admin like yours and see whats different. Admin accounts usually get more capability than a typical user account.

Use your site for a couple hours using a new account or account that's not an admin and look for things and try to do things. It might help you spot stuff you wouldn't while using your Admin account.

A button that lets you preview your post before you submit it would be nice.

Do we have this plugin? Strikethrough is pretty useful.

Yeah, but I figured people didn't really use it that often so I cut it (along with some other buttons) to lessen how much is displayed.

Check how responsive this suite is. You can shrink your browser window and various things around the board collapse or disappear based on your window frame. We have PC, Tablet, and Mobile resolutions. The navigation, breadcrumbs, and text editor all change. Sidebar moves, etc. Pretty neat in that regard.

They've definitely tried to make the suite more modern and feel more like the popular social medias while also being more connected.

That's fair. Only other problem I've been having would be links appear the same white as the text editor, but I'm sure that's already been mentioned.

Yeah, once I get time I'm gonna figure out which element controls the editor's background and set a different color to it; otherwise I may have to make a custom editor skin as well if it doesn't work like that. Just haven't had the chance to look into that part of it. As you can see there is still a bit of tweaking on the skin side of things (quote box, pm page, drop-down boxes, etc).

As far as strike-through. I suppose I could add it back a long with some of the others.

Can you use the strike bb code?

testing

I think maybe some of this works for me because I've set it to allow admins to post with html. Probably why I get a 'Source' button that shows me all the code of my posts too. So I should try testing things more with a different account.

How possible would it be to get most/all of the old text editor back?

I do miss the "Remove formatting", the drop down menu for special code inputting and the view post in code format. Share some of those admin powers with us less fortunate :}

Impossible without basically re-coding a HUGE portion of the software considering everything uses the editor.

When you copy/paste something it gives you the option to remove formatting. I'll see what I can do as far as editor plugins and options go.

Just a quick test.

Also, an after thought, is the old preview post button no longer possible?

Nope doesn't look that way.

Pitty but expected.

And yes, I must say that live option is quite nice. Alright, thanks :)

Hey Koby, do we have any plugins already? If so which ones? Having a look at cke's plugins right now.

Adding the popular ones :D

http://ckeditor.com/addon/colorbutton
http://ckeditor.com/addon/youtube
http://ckeditor.com/addon/autogrow (I'm not entirely sure what this one does but I'd assume it'd fix the bigger picture in the forums someone had posted about)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/imageresize (Same as above I believe but specifically for images)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/videodetector (Detects Vimeo, Dailymotion, and Youtube)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/autosave (Not sure if we already have this)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/autocorrect (We could use this)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/find (Might come in handy)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/bbcode (Lookie Lookie!)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/sourcedialog (Allows you to edit the html source when creating a post.)

Well that was the first 10 pages of most popular. Not a big fan of having to press shift+enter to go down a line. No biggie though. Something we might just have to get used to.

Adding to DTK comprehensive list,

http://ckeditor.com/addon/removeformat

http://ckeditor.com/addon/horizontalrule

http://ckeditor.com/addon/dragdrop

I also see at the end you have option to choose a basic, standard or full preset of the editor, would it be worth while going with the full and removing items that might not be needed? Dont know if this is something you have control over or not.

Basic vs Standard vs Full chart

but if you do, I would also recommend going with the Moono Color skin as the editor looks a little washed out in relation to the rest of the forum:

http://ckeditor.com/addon/moonocolor

Also 2 other things I noticed are missing, the button "View first unread post" of for a thread as well as the ability to mark a thread as read from the activity stream/Unread Content?

P.s. Double post because I could not save my edit.

Edit: Anyone else come across the editor becoming unresponsive? - things like none of the formatting buttons working, only font color. As well as not being able to remove spoilers (Ctrl+rightclick does nothing?)

Currently the dot to the left next the topic name goes to first unread post. IDK why IPS didn't make thread titles do that as well, but it's been suggested so maybe they'll listen and fix it.

Mark site read is available on every page.

Well thats better than nothing. Thanks for pointing that out, I wish they would bring back the dedicated "Go to first unread post" button on each forum and in the unread content section.

Yup, but that marks the whole site as read, when I havent read the whole site. The ability to just go sub-forum by sub-forum and mark said sub-forum as "read" was ideal. A bit like marking the emails you have read as read and leaving the ones unopened, unread.
