Tumblr teens complaining about school. My favourite thing.

In high school, I learnt about bankruptcy, how to apply for apartment leases and what kinds of information they need. I learnt about how to get a passport and how to write cheques. I learnt about applying for loans! For many things! Including college! I learnt how to pay bills! I learnt a great number of things in high school that I still use to this day.

I went to public school. I went to two different high schools!

Everything I understand about US high school indicates to me you can pick your own classes, so long as you fulfill your credits. Maybe this person is shitty at picking classes they think are useful. Maybe they are the type who took poetry because they think it's an easy English credit and then will later complain that high school didn't teach them English properly. Maybe they looked at that home ec class and laughed their head off because they think it is "girly" and "stupid" and "a waste of time". Maybe they looked at that economics class and said "nope, too hard". You reap what you sow.

Maybe they actually went to a terrible school, maybe they live in a place where you don't pick your own classes, but I know I've seen this attitude all over the place and I'm pretty sure they don't all have the same excuse of "I went to a terrible high school". Personal responsibility is calling.

This makes me very annoyed.
