Well, considering we already have a 60 page "Favorite Anime" thread, I would imagine this thread would best serve as a listing of favourite animated shows that are not considered anime.

Unless people are actually trying to say that anime and cartoons stand on the same level, which I doubt after reading the "Anime vs Cartoons" thread more than a couple times. I believe "Japan all the way" was posted in that thread at least twice per page.

I loved Courage the Cowardly Dog. The surreal misadventures he had and the quirkiness of the villain of the day made it for me. I remember watching an early episode--the first one, to be exact--where an alien chicken came down to Earth and Eustace ate its egg and turned into a giant chicken. That was remarkably creepy for me, haha.

My favorite cartoon probably has to be My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic u wu I don't want to plant a landmine that turns this thread into an anti-brony and pegasister flame hazard, but I really think that it has a lot of valid things to say about what friendship really is. More so than most cartoons out these days. And yeah, it's full of ponies and it very colorful, but that doesn't mean that it's specifically for little girls or small children. I think it kind of has a universal appeal if you'll give it a chance and ignore the hardcore bronies.

MLP is a really good show. I think a lot of people do reflexively cringe at the mention of the show because of the hardcore bronies like you mention, which is too bad because it's a fun show to watch. I'm not too deep into the fandom--I follow one or two MLP art blogs, a confession blog, and a couple of non-hysterical blogs about idiot bronies--so I don't see a lot of the idiocy firsthand. I'd like to keep it that way, because the artists I follow who make MLP fan art are nice people, haha.

I'm still waiting to warm up to Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle, haha. They don't have the immediate charm the rest of the Mane Six had for me.

My initial favorite was Twilight Sparkle, actually. But now it's 100% Pinkie Pie o wo Especially after reading Cupcakes. I don't do MLP fanfiction, and I never intend to, but it was a refreshing read that made me appreciate her much more. Most of the people that are into the show are nice. It's that hardcore brony percentage that makes everyone else look bad. I mean, have you heard of the Perfect Pony Plot Project? I won't go into details about it, but it's pretty wtf worthy and if people who see that kind of thing don't know sane bronies or pegasisters, it makes /everyone/ look bad.

I did not know the questions they pose were questions that kept people up all night. I think it would be less creepy if they just admitted it was for smutty reasons and not some "heroic" attempt at making things more "realistic".

I have never been one to appreciate the notion that innocent things should be kept innocent, as this is a potential limitation on creativity. (I am aware that you want to do this for anatomy reasons, not pornographic)

If that's not a confession to being a paedophile or something, I don't know what that is.
