jade335
When i compared Edd, Ed and Eddy with Naruto, then i realized something was very wrong with this picture But yeah, i notice the animation differences between american cartoons that show these days with the japanese ones. In my opinion, Japan is 200 years technologically advance in the animation category which makes me wonder why america still hasn't imrpoved after so many years... Gero50
Pretty much from the start I knew the differences. I guess I just pay close attention.
DarkDream787
I realized it around the end of high school and before I knew it was called anime I enjoyed Dragonball Z the most.
Tigerlady248
When I found Tvtropes and started to read the anime articals. With watching, when my friend finally convinced me to start watching it- must say I like anime a whole lot better then cartoons.
Genghis
The first time Dragonball Z was shown in the US when I realized they would actually kill characters in Anime

sjacket01
Realized it once someone had a bloody death. Doesn't happen in a cartoon.
misdreavus
I don't know when I noticed, it just seemed to happen slowly I guess, somewhere between 10-8 years ago.I watched Pokemon, Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, all without knowing they were anime. Liz
I pretty much heard someone saying that dbz was an anime and I was like, what is that?? Then I did a bit of research and that is when my love for anime truly began:ewhz:

TopGunman
I didn't have to 'realize' because I've been watching anime all my life more than cartoons. And truthfully, I liked very few cartoons because most of them looked bad....that's all you think about when you're a kid.
RajRP
When i was around 14 or 15...after watching naruto....was not into anime or cartoon much before that
ChronusXIII
I don't know.. Many of my friends can't distinguish between cartoon and anime yet... Even I don't know which one to call anime or cartoon. As far as I know any cartoon made in Japan is Anime and any cartoon made in the U.S is cartoon. I may be wrong... full_metal64
I never really thought of them as different, after all they are both animation, but after watching DB/DBZ/DGT last year I looked into to it and found out the difference between anime and cartoons. But I only became a big anime fan around the beginning of this year when I started watching Bleach, and already have several other series in my sight that I want to watch. Theoddone
There not that different just that cartoon is shows like Ben 10 Teen Titans etc... Anime is a little different because anime is a thing for mostly adults/teenagers because there things such as porn, horror etc..
