Continuing the anime wouldn't be a good idea,as long as it catches up with the manga quickly. Just remember, kubo pace is the worst. Fourteen pages a chapter with five pages of dialogue isn't right.

i think its quite possible he lost his powers as well, think its even hinted at somewhere in the anime...

i dont think its because of a gigai... as to why he could put up quite a fight against aizen is as he said, that his powers have partly come back, or at least i recall so

Ichigo's dad was banished from soul society after having a relationship with a human (ichigo's mother) and there was probably a problem back then involving Aizen and some other guy who had the final getsuga tensho used on him

I want to know sooooooo much more about Isshin!!!!! How did he lose his powers? Why did he stay in the World of the Living? How did he get his powers back? Did he know Ichigo would get powers? Kubo should write something for him.

Im with everyone here, the manga goes into it but the show hasnt really shown enough background of his Dad. I love that episode where we found out, one of my favs

well the manga right now is going more into ichigo's parents and stuff so we'll see

Its been implied he used the FGT and lost his powers, thats how he knew to teach it to ichigo.

I think Isshin is going to be a fascinating back story, I just hope they bring it along soon. It will probably be a 'filler' to break up the next arc a bit though, similar to 'the past'.

If it takes a whole filler arc to explain his backstory then please no! We have enough flashbacks and fillers. Even more if they put it in the middle of a major fight. They could slip the information in every now and then or sacrifice one episode for it, but please, not another month of torment!

Sooner or later this will be explained, and i sure hope it's going to be long since it will reveal soooo much about the story and the family bonds and i personally think it'll be a Romeo&Juliet kind of story

He proabably was a captain in the soul society....married a quincy who lost her powers.......broke some law of soul society....lost his powers due to a certain incident and livin on earth.....
