  1. Square-Enix's CEO Yoichi Wada deflects shareholder questions as to why the company hasn't remade Final Fantasy VII. We examine how the company is ignoring just how easy, and profitable, a remake could be. Square-Enix doesn’t care that people want a Final Fantasy VII remake in high-definition! Fans aren’t the only ones that want the iconic Japanese publisher and developer to revisit the 15-year-old role-playing game that made it an international powerhouse. Shareholders in the company want to see Final Fantasy VII HD as well. According to Andriasang, Yoichi Wada, Square-Enix’s CEO, said during an investor question and answer session that his company will only make a Final Fantasy VII remake when the company makes a game that exceeds the quality of Final Fantasy VII. It’s a telling statement. Sales of recent titles in the series, including Final Fantasy XIII and its 2012 sequel Final Fantasy XIII-2, have helped keep Square-Enix solvent since 2010 but both those titles have been divisive amongst critics and fans. Wada’s statement indicates that Square recognizes that even its own internal teams have failed to match the high bar set by Final Fantasy VII back in 1997. Final Fantasy VII character designer Tetsuya Nomura made statements in May that reflect Wada’s. Nomura said that he and his team, currently working on the 6-years-in-development Final Fantasy Versus XIII, are committed to making new titles rather than revisiting old ones. A Final Fantasy VII HD remake, not just a high-definition remaster, would be an absolutely immense undertaking. The game’s pre-rendered CG backgrounds are, even by today’s standards, remarkably detailed and though they aren’t massive there are many of them. The sheer size of the game’s world is prohibitive in an era when ever single inch of a game is rendered individually rather than as an animated pre-rendered background. Then again, why not just remake Final Fantasy VII with improved pre-rendered backgrounds and character models? Square’s insistence that it can’t simply remake the game without making significant changes is just silly. Capcom’s 2002 remake of the original Resident Evil for Nintendo Gamecube is proof positive that a remake of a polygonal game with pre-rendered backgrounds can be absolutely stunning. The use of pre-rendered backgrounds with improved character models would also give Square-Enix a great deal of flexibility in terms of what platforms the HD remake could be released on. PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo’s Wii U, and PCs could easily accommodate a Final Fantasy VII remake with pre-rendered backgrounds, but more importantly, so could the current Apple iPad, a platform that has proven quite lucrative for Square-Enix. Stop trying to best Final Fantasy VII, Square-Enix. You can’t do it. You have lost too many creators. Best to just make a brand new, very beautiful version of the classic. 2. What do you guys think about previous seasons & should there be a 3rd season?
  3. Can anyone recommend me some anime like the following, shows that are mainly comedy with some fantasy elements and stuff. I don't mind slapstick humor. Having a dub is important though. 1. Seto no Hanayome (My Bride is a Mermaid) 2. Kore wa Zombie ? (Is This a Zombie?) I have also seen Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou (Demon King Daimao), Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica (Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero, High School DxD, The Devil is a Part Timer, Baka & Test, Rosario To Vampire so anything other than these shows will do. I wanted to watch Princess Resurrection if that is any good but i don't see it being rated all that well. So any shows like the first two I've mentioned would be great. Thank you.
  4. I very much enjoy action romances and the first season of Yona of the Dawn certainly delivered. Has there been an official announcement of sorts regarding the future of the series? A second season perhaps? Apparently there is enough source material from the manga for the animators to go off of and I would hate it if they chose not to renew the show.
  5. I was going to do something more with this but, well, I didn't. Maybe some day a character will wander into my head that can grasp that sword and begin to heal a broken place. ============= The world was numb. Sweetly numb. All the arrows that were pierced through him, all the cuts that had made it through his guard, it was all gone. How sweet it was. Smiling, he pushed his sword deeply into the ground and raised his bleeding eyes to those creeping slowly towards him. Creeping like the rats they were. Vermin. Scared. Weak little vermin. But so many. So many. A few more arrows hit him, he felt a few that struck where his armor had fallen away but most twanged away. It was not pain now. No. Even those arrows that had punctured him anew were nothing. He sneered at the rats around him, his face a bloodied mask. His eyes burning with the pure fury that raged within. Green orbs of hate, glaring, sending cold shivers down their spines. “Come! Come to me…” His voice wasn’t much more than a rumbling gurgle but the enemy still hesitated. A fatally wounded animal was always the most dangerous. They had him trapped and dying and they all knew it. Yet none wanted to die with him. All had seen what he could do. For those just arriving to this last, standing figure, the ring of bodies around him was proof enough of what awaited them. What they didn’t know was what he had waiting for them. He was trapped? Ha! They all were. He struggled to stay up right. Something went. A knee? His leg? Either way, he dropped to the ground, holding the sword for balance. Now they came. The cowards. But they came to death. It was time. As far as he could see, they were close enough. They were all in for a big surprise. “Aphee–” He only had to mumble the word. Not even finish before the dark power began spilling out of him. It was the word. The word to ignite the little blue bubble on the hilt of his sword. One little word. One little sound. He laughed before he could finish as he felt the power seize him. That ragged sound froze them. Too late. The remaining army was too close. They should have sent more men. Ah, if only they had sent their entire Kingdom against him! His eyes burned with a growing fire even as his life faded. A fire so intense that those close enough took a step back. “Apheena.” Echoed hollowly across all the Kingdoms. A sound that sent livestock running. Nightmares to those that slumbered. Apheena had been her name. His love. His life. When she died, he had died. So many years ago. And now… with that word complete… his sword ignited in full. Blossomed suddenly in its full, deadly glory. The blue flash could be seen for miles around. Curious men and women stared at the sudden flare. It took time, yet soon enough the polluted wind pushed at the people that were unlucky enough to be outside at the time. None would ever forget it. They couldn’t. It changed them. Deformed a few poor souls. Hurt the hearts of others. The wind was just a touch of the spell that had been used. The wind it threw out was thick with the smell of death and decay and all things foul. All that could touch the magical plane shuddered as the spell twisted and corrupted it. A death spell like no other. One filled with decades, lifetimes, of hate, rage and soul crushing loneliness. A spell so large, so devastating, it knocked a few seers senseless around the lands. The spell was so powerful and made in such a way that the likes of it had never been triggered before. Or since. The entire magical plane was drained a little that day. Darkened by the death it brought. So much death. Land, air, water. All life in its reach. All gone. It was years before the glow faded. Years more before a group of Magi dared enter the once Kingdom now re-named the Cursed land. For miles around, there was nothing. No life. Nothing growing. No sound. No sight but flat, black earth. Wind would stir the fine black powder that coated everything. A fine dust of death that never left the boundaries of the Cursed land. It was hard to remember that this once had been a flourishing Kingdom. Once, there had been life. Songs. Happiness. Life. It took them days to reach the slight, sickly throbbing sensation they could feel. The sore spot that all Magi of any type in all the Kingdoms could feel. They found a strange void. As they neared, they began to make out a shape. It was a sword. Only a sword. No. Not just a sword. Not that throbbing, lonely and lost thing. Not just a sword. The Magi moved about it, testing various spells but nothing could touch it. It stood defiant to all. A gleaming dark beacon. A monument to those countless lives lost in its deadly net. Those lost to its wrath. The Magi stayed as long as they could. Soon, they felt their own magic being pulled, slowly, oh so slowly, into that deathly void around the weapon. They left as fast as they could. Never to return. Spreading the word of what they’d found. Leaving the sword standing alone and defiant in its empty Kingdom. A symbol of loss so potent that generations yet to come would hear and know and mourn with the sword’s bearer whose name was lost in time.
  6. After watching attack on titan back in 2013 and again a week ago , i was left wanting for more or something similar. I was always a sucker for post-apocalytpic/sci-fi/fantasy sets in movies/series and now in anime. I have already watched full metal alchemist, knights of cydonia, god eater, heroic age, evangelion and many years ago the first anime i completed : claymore. I would recommend to anyone who perhaps was introduced to anime with attack on titan to watch full metal alchemist , not because of any similarities , if there are any, but because it is a pretty good anime with nice characters and interesting plot. The anime closer to attack on titan is god eater .Not that good but still entertaining enough. What i am asking are recommendations of good anime in that direction.(post apocalyptic setting + good story obviously).
  7. Aishod is a story I have been working on for years (and is still on it's second draft) I started it for NaNoWriMo in 2011 and finished the first draft for NaNoWriMo in 2013. Since then it has been and on/off sort of project (since I started writing a novel for my mumsy) but I have edited and rewritten the first 9 or 10 chapters to a standard I am much more happy with. I'm still not totally happy with the story, there is a lot of explaining that needs to be done and a lot of things that need to be expanded but for a second draft of a really rushed story I am pretty happy with it. The story of Aishod... Aishod follows the young and somewhat imulsive princess Pippa who has come home from magical boarding school. She had been receiving vague letters from home for years and suspected her uncle Tibbott of foul play. As soon as she returned she was put under house arrest, but little did her uncle realise that her magical ability of the mind far exeeded his own. She easily slipped out of the palace unseen and hired the mercenary Ivy to help her work out what is going on. The two are set on a journey niether of them expected as the Guardans of Magic warn that Tibbott is planning something far worse than just removing the Queen from power and taking the throne. Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 etc.....
  8. SPOILERS ALERT!!! After finally beating both X and X-2 I decided to watch the extra bonus audio. I really like the audio drama, it had a realistic story telling to it. Although when I look online about people thoughts of it, I was surprise that a lot of people hate it or just flat out confused of what just happened (mainly because Yuna saying she didn't love Tidus anymore). But I think people are making sense of it all wrong. This is how I see it. I'll be using someone post from gamefaqs since this person logic of this is exactly like mines. -Auron has a daughter he didn't even know about, which is why Lulu denies that Chuami is his daughter, 'cause even she doesn't know. -Sin has re-appeared, somehow. Relating to Tidus's injury and being 'weak' shows that the pyreflies in him are fading. -Yuna and us included, know what happens next. She has to go back to her old "Persona" from FFX and go on another Journey to stop it yet again. -However last time she did this, she lost Tidus completely, so naturally she lies about seeing someone else to him and pushes him far away from her so he isn't involved. (Base from FFX and X-2 this is exactly how her character is.) -Tidus confronts Lulu and wants to know what he did, and does she really like someone else? and of course, Lulu responds "You should know Yuna by now" Implication, that again, she is lying to protect him. -Tidus (being the idiot he is) actually believes her and then runs off to confess her, and then he sees her giving the speech "I will defeat Sin." Thus begins, Final Fantasy X-3.... So what do you guys think about the 30min Audio?
