  1. Some dubbs are great but sometimes they just ruin it all by trying to be too clever - If anyone has been able to watch Tears to Tiara dubbed in English I salute you. I actually bought this when it was released in English because the cast was pretty good and familiar names from other shows I've seen/liked/own - but the accents they try I just found it comically painful - especially the voice Arthur I'm not quite sure what he was aiming for but he sounds like a cross between an angry pirate and a confused leprechaun.

  2. Some of the J-Pop/Rock I listen to is

    Dir En Grey

    Malice Mizer

Monoral (did the opening theme 'Kiri' for Ergo Proxy)

and of course GACKT (ok he's not a band but i do love his music)

Quite a few seiyus tend to release albums..Takashi Kondo who voices Kyoya Hibari in Reborn has a cd (it's not usually the kind of music i'd listen to but i like his voice) and Daisuke Ono sings a few songs for Black Butler and other anime Psychic Detective Yakumo is one i can remember - i'm a little embarrassed to admit it but the song Netsuretsu ANSWER he sings is awesom - it just makes me giggle every time i hear it

  3. FF VIII was the first one I every played and i still love it but VII is undoubtedly my favorite...I've started getting the old ones as they release them for psp - they usually have pretty good stories and i don't mind retro game lol lets me relive my childhood :) Crisis Core was pretty cool too lol i think it's the second psp game i've ever finished...:)

  4. I generally watch things in Japanese so i've made two lists of my current faves - those dubbed and not :)

    English dubbed…

    Full Metal Panic

    Ergo proxy

    Ghost Hunt

    Darker than Black

    Trinity Blood

    Japanese

Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler – Japanese version is better!)

    Katekyo Hitman Reborn

    Pandora Hearts

    Persona – Trinity Soul

    Togainu no chi

  5. I agree - you can't go wrong with Ghibli (though unless you want to be completely depressed don't choose Graveyard of the Fireflies it is brilliant but one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen live action or animated!) Spirited Away is great, Ponyo or Howls Moving Castle (lol am just reading off some of whats on my shelf...I have a lot....)

As for getting her sucked into a series it really depends what her interests are. As Iki mentioned - Vampire Knight will probably appeal to the twilight crowd (no i'm not one!) but i don't mind the series though i think the English dubbing is pretty poor compared to the original voices but i'm kinda fussy when it comes to dubbs :)

for something that might be a bit more girl/shojo you could try something like Skip Beat (not dubbed and it's only one season as far as i know and just ends in the middle of a story arc). Wallflower (also called Perfect Girl Evolution depending where you live) and Ouran High School Host Club are pretty funny or there's Romeo + Juliet( but i haven't seen that one...yet)

My husband isn't really into Anime either but he has watched Darker than Black, All the Full Metal Panic! (Fumoffu is just great when you want a laugh) and most of Durara

If she like Gothic-y stuff maybe Black Butler (currently my fave!) or Pandora Hearts (not dubbed as far as I know) or Trinity Blood...

Well there's a few more suggestions for you - the problem is there is just too much to choose from :)

  6. Really depends on the Anime, but my preference is usually towards watching things in Japanese...case in point i just got hold of part 1 of the English dubbed version of Black Butler - and couldn't listen to more than 5 minutes of the English version - i could be biased though as i think Daisuke Ono has pretty sexy voice and just suits the character of Sebastian perfectly ...I may be a little harsh as I in my head i can't seem to separate J Michael Tatum's voice from his role as the eccentric Komui Lee in D-Gray Man
